New guy ? Different models
Noob here, wanting to learn the different models. What are the differences between Condor, Talon and Edge?
If this has already been outlined can you point me in the right direction? TIA

Well niclaw, here ya got it. We all like something different. We have different purposes for these airguns. The AF guns are very modular and lend themselves from the lightest duty, to the heaviest…and they come in pretty colors!
Tha AF guns are priced right and posess power with accuracy. Most people starting out just can’t see spending so much money on an airgun, or better yet, a BB gun! “What are you crazy!?!?” say our friends, until they try them. Remember, the gun is just the begining, then there is a tank, or compressor, (forget the hand pump if you are going to shoot alot…which you will probably shoot a whole bunch once you get your hands on one.)
Have you checked out this forum’s Other Guns section? What you will find are many guys who started with an AF gun and went on to buy something else; usually with a magazine and much more money. Many of these guys have kept their AF guns, some haven’t. (I did…I love my .22 TSS!). I bought a BSA Sportsman HV in .22, it’s powerful and accurate with a 10 shot magazine. (BSA makes great barrels!) Then an AirArms S410 came my way in .22. Again, powerful and accurate with a gorgeous walnut stock and a 10 shot magazine. Then I got my .25 Marauder with its 8 shot magazine. Do you see a pattern here? More power, magazine fed, and more money.
I call this the airgun journey. You start by “going to the darkside”, a black AF gun, (now they come in colors.) Then you want more! You have reconciled yourself to spending the money…$1,000 for an AirArms, $2,000 for an Edgun, $3,000 for a built, tuned Thoben Rapid. It just goes on and on. These guns make an M1-A, or Model 70 look cheap! But you’re gonna do it. You’re gonna do it because these guns are accurate, quiet, (as quiet as you care to spend money to make them quiet.) Most of us shoot them in our houses, or backyards. Face it, you just can’t shoot that rat, or ground squirrel with your favorite .308 where we live. However, our quiet, accurate airguns can eliminate house, vehicle, and property damaging critters without the tree hugging, animal rights whacko next door being any the wiser. 😉 Well, most of the time.
At this point your heart is raging in one direction and your cheap gene is screaming in the other. Your wife is saying, what’s wrong with what you have? She’s talking about that Daisy Red Ryder you got when you were a kid. This is your golden opportunity to run like hell!!! Disavow any knowledge of these airguns. Or, bite the bullet, swipe the card, have you new gear delivered to a buddy’s house. Learn to say, “ah honey, I’ve had this for years”, or “it belongs to Dave…he’s storing it here so HIS wife doesn’t know about it.”

My take would be get an AAA condor in .25 cal from tony @talontunes will do what ever you need from targets to small/med game with the right ammo. love my .25 condor welcome to the dark side. 😎
I have a 22 talon ss couldn’t be happier. Small, light weight, accurate as hell. Get sparrows at 35yds , crows at 35ys, starlings at 45yds regularly.
What do you want to do with this gun? Hunt? …if so what kind of critters? Target shooting? …if so what kind of targets at what distance?
The Edge is a dedicated 10 meter, .177 target gun.
The Condor is the gun which out of the box is powerful, but can be modified to top single shot performance.
The Talon is a little less powerful, but can be moded to higer performance.
The Talon SS has a 12″ barrel which limits its performance, but is short, light, and relatively quiet…especially when you add a few washers into the frame after the muzzle.
All of the AF guns can be made more powerful and very accurate.

Condor with the longer barrel produces more power allowing you to shoot heavier pellets. Condors out of the box can produce up to 40-50 FPE in .22 and 60 FPE in .25 caliber. My Condors have great accuracy out to 100 yards but are like handling a heavy push broom handle when out hunting. 😯
Talon has a shorter barrel making it compact. I carry mine in a backpack when hunting. A Talon SS can produce about 30 FPE in .22.. I have had a couple of lucky kills out to 60 yards but easily kills out to 45 yards. I get at least 40 good shots on a fill.
FWIW, I shoot my .22 Talon SS way more than I do either of my Condors.
The Edge is primarily intended to shoot 10 meter target contest.
Get a Talon SS in .22. You won’t be disappointed. 😎

:banghead: people are not trying to be rude but we answer questions like this every week. :banghead: this is the best website you will find for info on the af guns condor has 24″ barrel with extra hammer weight and hiflow valve for lots of power talon ss has a shroud to keep it somewhat quite the talon is in the middle of the condor and talon ss you can turn a talon ss into a condor and condor into talon ss with different barrels and valves and hammer weight edge is different story talon p is a small talon loud and lots of power but not many shots per fill

Yes, I have been to the sight a few times. It seems differences are barrel length and shroud or not. Does that pretty much cover it?

just get the condor and you can turn it into any thing you want, unless you have a specific goal in mind that would be better suited to one of the other platforms. you can build it up (max power)
you can put a 12″ barrel in it and make a SS condor and run 14 grain pellets well into the high 900s fps were the talon ss can only shoot into mid 800’s, with shroud in the frame
. turn it down to the edge velocities, or build one of these monsters like the guys are having fun doing right now.
I have a 22 ,24″ condor that i have shot at 450 fps wth 22cal 14 grain pellets, and have turned it up to 1100 fps wtih 22.cal ,32 grain pellets.
These guns can shoot equal to the best guns around or shoot terrible if out of tune, Really its personal preference .
