how many have had scopes that have canted reticles…

from the factory? It could just be that my turret is off level (but I doubt it). When I level the scope turret to the frame (condor) the reticle seems to be off by at least 3 degrees. I actually prefer leveling it by eye (I will look at a level piece of fence in my yard and simply match the cross hairs to that. But I was wondering that if the cross hairs are off by this factory defect, and I correct the defect by rotating my scope in the rings, wouldn’t that make the turrets (erector) not square to the reticle? wouldn’t it mean that any adjustment I make in windage or elevation would push the erector off in elevation and horizon (windage)? I’d hate to send it back to the factory (Millet) but if I have to I will.

Yes, but you could run this test with two scopes and if it occurs with both scopes then the barrel is guilty. If it happens with only one of the two scopes, then the scope will be guilty.

I just looked at it again outside at dusk and it appears that the bottom vertical post is off, kind of bent. Now if this was a wire reticle that would make more sense but how the hell could a glass etched reticle be off. I am thinking also that it could be something to do with the glass (which by the way is very clear and good in low light).

I suppose the best test is going to be setting up multiple ranges from 10 to 100 and see if my poi drifts off to the side….

Yes, that is what I figured. If I sold it, I would have to disclose this fact, plus severely discount it. I think I will contact them and see if I can have some better Customer service than you did 😯

My first “quality scope” was a Millet 4×16 TR whatever.

It had a canted reticle.

I am sorry in that I have disagree about it being a workable option, with me anyway.

If you going to be dialing in for uber long range, further than a 100 yard sightin and using mildots, the turent adjustments will give you cant in respect to your leveled reticle.

But like said, if you dial in for one range and only use the mildots for holdover that will work.

It just will not track straight for longer ranges if your adjusting the elevation for the drop.
That will cause the bullet to drift to the side.

I sent mine back to Bushnell, they kept it for around 2 or more months and did not address the problem.

I sold it.

Good way to test! I was wondering about the issue should I one day sell the scope. What if a long distance shooter wanted to buy it. I would have to disclose that the reticle is off, and being off, and as you said aligning it with the bore, what would happen to the poi if one was to dial in some serious elevation or windage? I am thinking that since the springs on the erector tube are no longer plum and level, when you crank on the turrets you would be throwing your poi way off your calculated expectations, would you not? If the answer is yes, then this scope, as is, would only be useful if using the mil dots for limited range shooting.
