R3 1st stage
The first stage pull has a very weird harsh pull before reaching the 2nd stage. Kind of stuck and have to be real careful not to apply to much pressure as the gun might go off. I can also tell that once I get to the 2nd stage, the tension is gone and acts normal until I pull the trigger but once I cock the rifle I need to repeat the step. What can I do to fix this?

I really hope Ed has some sort of easy fix.
Just to try and be clear, when the gun is not cocked the trigger performs as it should. This only happens when the hammer is cocked.
As for accuracy I’m getting a good group but I haven’t tried anything further than 30m as this gun is my night time hunting weapon.
Iยดm far from my R3 until Feb. so I cant do anything until then, but I don’t think its the side washers as it feels normal without it being cocked or if you
relieve the hammer pressure from the trigger group by pulling back the bolt.
I was thinking more on the lines of a possible adjustment of the push-rod itself, in or out a turn ???
from your video, that is exactly how mine is acting up…

Well it turns out it has the same issue without the stock. Almost feels like 3 stages until the creep tension is taken out at first then acts like a 2 stage. I never show the trigger pull because I have the camera in the other hand.

My R3 .22 does not have this issue, but then again it’s brand new.
I purchased the R3 .25 from the yellow used. I’ll open her up tonight and see what it feels like with out the stock.
Not owning an Edgun personally, so this might not be accurate for this rifle.
My S410 and AF rifles have both had all trigger parts polished, and the end results are spectacular.
I did NOT polish and sear contact surfaces, only friction points.
The pins, holes thru trigger parts, and the sides of trigger parts where any rubbing could occur. All of these were Flitz polished, then I carefully applied a Teflon spray. I used Acetone to clean the sear contact points afterward.
The holes were the hardest part. I wrapped a cleaning patch around a toothpick and held the pick in a vise. Go slow, and don’t go overboard with it.
I cannot see why some work like this wouldn’t help you guys.
The problem is most likely caused by friction but not between the trigger blade and the trigger housing walls….
I’ve just taken the stock off my two R3s to compare.
When you cock the gun, – there is a “blade” that is connected to the rod that is leading back to the sear mechanism, that is dropped down towards the trigger adjustment screws. First stage pull “lifts” that blade up to the “breaking point”. This blade rotates around the backmost pin in the trigger assembly (again with a delrin washer on either side). The “harsh” feeling when you pull the trigger may come from friction in that part. You may feel a minor resistance when trying to push this “blade” up.
If you don’t shoot but let go of the trigger, – the trigger blade will spring back to its “idle” position (pulled back by a tiny spring). However the “blade” connected to the rod will remain in its upper position. Therefore the next time you pull through the first stage, – you will not notice this “friction” and the first stage pull feels “clean”.
My two guns feel different from one another, – the friction is there, – but not much. However a little more in one of them. I have not really bothered about it, – but will now to see if I can sort this out. One thing I noticed is that the pin was on its way “out” in one of the guns. If that pin “comes out” on one end, – you’re bound to have some serious friction when trying to push this blade up, but that is highly unlikely to happen…….
Remedies for this ? I don’t know yet, – but sounds like some cleaning and oiling should help…….. ๐

Mine is the same way, funny thing…Ed even adjusted it when he pasted thru here. I didn’t say anything up to now because I figured it is normal…guess not ๐ฅ
I did clean off that excess grease that it come with, but it didn’t make much difference at all, as stated this is only present once cocked. when not, its like any other trigger feel.
what to do and check for???

Really there is not much that can go wrong in the trigger assembly itself that would cause something like that…..
The triggerblade rotates freely around a metal pin. The first stage pull is controlled by a small spring. Between the triggerblade and the trigger housing there’s a delrin (?) washer on either side, and there’s not a lot of clearance. Could it be that the trigger is jammed a little between the trigger assembly walls and the delrin washers ? Or have you got something stuck in between there ? Or are any of the delrin washers missing ????
Another option is that the trigger housing itself may have taken a beating and jams the triggerblade, – but I find that highly unlikely…..

Looks to me like your plate above trigger stage screws is starting out at to high an angle. It and base of trigger should be closer to parallel from start. Your first stage is very short and looks like your primarily using second for majority of sear action. Do a search on trigger adjustment. Looks like a turn on rod to bring plate down more parallel. Your first stage pull should be twice as long leaving second stage to break sear which should have appx 1 to 1.5mm contact left.
