Q:

How to remove the cocking handle?

Ok all, before I go and fuck up my gun, is there a trick to removing the cocking handle? I’ve got to get it off to remove the bolt to clean and polish the inside of the frame. A little help here…. Thanks 😎

Thanks for all the information. I’m looking forward to having some time to take the bolt out and clean out the inside of the frame. The bolt’s gotten a bit sticky and I want to smooth things out. Otherwise, the rifle is still amazing. If I do my part I’m getting 2.5″ – 3″ groups at 125 yards with JSB 15.9s.

I had a hell of a time removing the cocking handle the first time. I used a long small allen wrench in the slot on the top of the handle for leverage. Wrench kept coming out scracthing the gun. Once I had it out, i drilled 2 holes all the way through the cocking handle at 90 degrees just below the grove. This allows me to put the allen wrench thru one of the holes, turn a bit, remove and put thru the other hole, turn, etc. til handle is remove. No more jumping the notch, no more scratching the gun. :thumb:

X2 for what Adam said, I have a set of pipe pliars I use that have a oval in the jaws.

Just be damn careful you do not cross thread it when you screw it back on, easy to do with the angle and a plastic breech, if you do it will make it very easy to take off next time, all you have to do is turn the rifle upside down and it will fall off. 😳
Actually Adam there are two set screw holding in the collar. At least on the ones sold on this side of the pond.

The new spin locks are different yet so Doug tells me.

cocking knob is just on a threaded screw ,it gets stuck somtimes if never taken off. knob somtimes comes of leaving the bolt(mine does)

i get pliers with a bit of leather around the bolt not to damage threads..
and simlpy with force turn the bolt how ever meny times needed until removed.

then if you wont the breech out of the gun take of the grip and the part that holds the safty(trigger gaurd) in carfull not to loose the 3 springs you will see a allen head by the trigger,

unscrew and the coller that holds the bottle in ,will come out,,then the breech will just slide out,,hope this helps..

atb adam 😉

Unscrew it. Mine was a pain in the ass getting it off the first time.

Tried that with no success. Before I really put force on it I wanted to make sure it wasn’t counter threaded or a press fit with splines or something.

It’s been a while, but don’t you just unscrew it?
