Q:

Yellow Forum Access??? (now BSA R10 to USA)

So, who’s butt do you have to kiss to post on the Yellow Forum?

I’ve been a “read-only” member for years. I don’t bother to “read” because I can’t respond. I’ve got 35 years experience with adult airguns as well as many types of (mostly antique) firearms. Might have something useful to say occasionally??

There’s a guy on there with the hots for a BSA R10 Mk2. I just imported one directly from the UK and would love to tell him how to do it, but I’m not allowed to post.

GRRRRRRRRRRRRRRR!!!!

John,

Thanks for the information. This is veeeery interesting indeed as there are not too many RFDs willing to export from UK…!!!

Thanks again……..

Trygve 😀

Here’s my email to the individual asking for info on how to import an R10 to the USA detailing the process:
*********************************
I saw your post on the Yellow Forum expressing your frustration at trying to find an importer for the R10. I worked on this for upwards of a year!! Finally, I grabbed the bull by the horns and found a UK dealer with an export license and had them special order a FAC R10 Mk2 for me. Yours will be shipped to US Customs at an airport nearest you. You have to drive IN PERSON to the air freight terminal, pick up some forms, go over to customs, get them to give you a release, then go beck to the air freight terminal and pick up the gun. That’s it. Customs even waived duty fee for me (!!!) Shipping is COSTLY, but not outrageous. If you like, I can send you a copy of my invoice.

Mine is a Left-Hand stock FAC .22 cal R10 Mk2., slightly more expensive than the RH version (Maybe 25 GBP extra??). ( You won’t find the Limited Edition in FAC, I don’t think(????))

It WAS worth the effort!! (I ordered a couple extra magazines with mine)

The main thing is that you need to live relatively near an airport with a US Customs station. (mine was two hours away) Cheshire Gun Room treated me fairly. Sean Wilson is the guy who handles their export stuff. His email is: sean@cheshiregunroom.com He even reduced the price a bit for me to help compensate for high shipping costs.

*************************************
The whole process took about 2 months from order to receipt. Most of the delay was due to BSA, apparently they aren’t set up to do many FAC models yet. Maybe they had JB set up the regulator special(???) Wire transfer payment was necessary for me as my bank card company won’t sent payments to UK. They claim credit card fraud is too common over there (???)

Once you get a reputation it’s easier to get on another forum.

You are welcome here among friends and interesting people who would like to get to know you better.

Kindly ‘Ol Uncle H 😯 😯 t

PS. How does Customs work when importing an air rifle? Is there a fee. ?

So do Tell! How DO you import an R-TEN from the UK. People here want them!
As far as getting on he yellow, It is all depending on what kind of mood Steve is in it seems. I finally applied directly to Steve.(The Owner there), and he sent me some strange e-mails. Asking what I was using for a log in. I gave it to him, It didn’t work though. He chewed me out for using the wrong log in. BUT, the one he then sent me, was the same damed log in I had just used.

I heard that he can be strange as hell. Well. He sure as hell can be! Said I was waisting his time by giving him a bogus log in. The same damed log in he re-sent. 😕

Yellow still better than AirGunAdvice though. At least you are allowed to have an opinion there!

Only part of the story I’m afraid: If you travel a lot around the world, the IP address would change all the time as you go. If you use different computers to post, even worse….

I know, – I travel a lot myself. And I’m also a global moderator on a Norwegian forum… 😉

Thanks much for the tip. Every time I tried to post it declined, then said applications weren’t being accepted. Felt like being in a chapter from “Catch-22!”

I emailed the poster with the problem, who was very glad for the info I provided. So without forum posting privileges, forum allows you to directly contact members. Seems a bit backwards if security is what they’re after.

Obviously I must be unaware of some of the difficulties of being a forum admin…

I couldn’t create an account either,,, The forum Administrator, can see your IP address and his Global Moderator can see the Unique Address, and that takes it alway back to the computer that is posting the Replies and the sells. So If they need Anymore than that he is unawawre of the Information that he is already getting from the web host. I was an Administrator one time on the Forums and I knew every IP address,. Thats all that is needed to avoid spam, he can even block a person from seeing the Yellow forum by putting a block on his unique address. So I tried one time to create an account, and my address has never been in the block list accept for some Politicians,, and my EBAY feed back totals above 1000, but I canceled the account cause of Pay Pal abusing my account, not once but 2 times,. So I just look elsewheres for my goods I buy they are all over the http://WWW.COM..;)
