Q:

BSA R10 Mk2 to USA

I’m posting this because I realize there may be others interested in getting a BSA R10, which Gamo refuses to import to the USA.

After working on GAMO USA, BSA UK, Pyramyd, and AoA for about a year trying to get them to bring this fine rifle to the USA, I gave up.

Finally, I grabbed the bull by the horns and found a UK dealer with an export license and had them special order a FAC R10 mk2 for me. Yours will be shipped to US Customs at an airport nearest you. You have to drive IN PERSON to the air freight terminal, pick up some forms, go over to customs, get them to give you a release, then go beck to the air freight terminal and pick up the gun. That’s it. Customs even waived duty fee for me (!!!) Shipping is COSTLY, but not outrageous. If you like, I can send you a copy of my invoice.

Mine is a Left-Hand stock FAC .22 cal R10 Mk2., slightly more expensive
It WAS worth the effort!! (I ordered a couple extra magazines with mine)

The main thing is that you need to live relatively near an airport with a US Customs station. (mine was two hours away) Cheshire Gun Room treated me fairly. Sean Wilson is the guy who handles their export stuff. His email is: sean@cheshiregunroom.com He even reduced the price a bit for me to help compensate for high shipping costs.

The whole process took about 2 months from order to receipt. Most of the delay was due to BSA, apparently they aren’t set up to do many FAC models yet. Maybe they had JB set up the regulator special(???) Wire transfer payment was necessary for me as my bank card company won’t sent payments to UK. They claim credit card fraud is too common over there (???)

No, it’s not the same gun. Pyramyd, or any other dealer hasn’t had stock on the original BSA Mk 10 for years, even though they still list them on the website. And the gun I have is the R10 Mk2, which has a regulator and other mods from the first version, which had a few problems, according to what I’ve read. BSA addressed them quite well, and will upgrade Mk1’s to Mk2 specs, but, of course, can’t be done stateside. But the Mk2 is very well sorted and a jewel to shoot, and just to look at–beautiful design, well-executed.

So John, is this the same gun on Pyramid’s site?

It figures. You track it down, buy it, get it shipped, and are all proud of yourself just to learn from some TAG guys that PA has them…in stock. Sounds like my life. 😀 The upside is that you are happy with it. That makes it chase worth it.

Uh, I just checked the Pyramyd air site, and they’re selling for $999. .177 and .22. I don’t think it’s for a lefty though since I see that in your post. I’m just referring to the “…which Gamo refuses to import to the USA.” thing. I did not see it on the AoA site though.. only the Mk3 Super 10…
