Q:

Theoben Rapid MK2

So I’ve been waiting for an Edgun for the last 11 months. I’ve been thinking if on the next shipment I do not get one I’m going to go the rapid MK2 route. Can anyone tell me more about them? I want one in .22 and want to make sure it is a decent gun. Are they regulated? I was planing to buy one straight from theoben USA. please fill me in.

Thanks

RC, I would call AZ. But they can usually be filled a bit higher. And the Reg does cut back on all-out power, but as you know, it will gat a hell of a lot more shots. And all in the sweet spot! Just like your FX.

Damed, I miss that Rifle already!!! 😥

why no magazine ? they are super simple, they index them self, so no fiddly arms on the rifle that index the magazine or anything

its just an index spring that turns the wheel, pellets keeps the wheel from free spinning, so when one is pushed out and the probe has been retracted it forwards the next

monsoon, mrod uses the same principle as well afaik

i got pictures on my photobucket of an monsoon mag, the oring is for friction against the rifle, the bass bit is not needed

I shot my new one this morning.

It is both scary accurate and quiet.

I got groups in the 3’s and 4’s with both Kings and Kodiaks at 54 yards.

Anyone know how a regulator effects the power on these rifles, and does it in fact set between the bottle and the rifle?

I filled to 3100 but is this the correct fill?

RC

fine for single shot with the cutout, without it the thumb gets in the way and makes it a bit more finicy …but one could always just make a single shot tray and be done with it

the block is steel of some sort, which what makes them strong

the rifle its quite front heavy, so i would skip that middle piece between the block and bottle…i wonder why its there, as its an unregulated rifle (maybe to make the regged and unregged rifle share stock)

also, the barrel runs quite close to the bottle, so you might want some space for a shroud

Cyprus, thank you very much!
That is a great help. I can look for material at least 🙂
How is it for single shot? Presume that is the cutout shown? Want a single shot so no magazine for me.
Thanks again!
Walter….

if you more accurate measurements let me know, i didnt have time to get the caliber out and do a proper measurement

tape on the block is because of crummy theoben stock…the block wouldnt not stay put but give a tiny bit…drove me nuts…so i put some tape there to take up the slack

Wow! RC that’s a beauty! just sayin, Keep me in mind when you get tired of that one.

How timely.

I just traded my Royale 500 Carbine for a custom AZ Rapid today.

It is a 25 with a beautiful Bastone Walnut stock, has the fill nipple in the belly of the stock ala FX Royale and a full 1.5 inch diameter shroud on a 20 inch barrel. It has a set back MK4 trigger. 3 magazines 400 cc bottle and all the receipts from AZ.

Beautiful looking rifle shoots 56 FPE with Kodiaks.

It is short like Tofazfou Rapid and I assume it is heavy, but I don’t pack a rifle very far around here, or own them very long if I get tired of them. 😛

And oddly enough it is 15 miles from where I grew up, so the wife and I will get some windshield time tomorrow.

Regards,

Roachcreek

no problem…i will see if i get the time tomorrow

Cygnus, would it be possible to have a pic with a ruler on the block with the stock off?

Please?

Walter….

the one i got was an unfinished piece of shit…drooping barrel, bad crown, bad bluing, badly adjusted trigger, burrs in the barrel….couldnt get a 1″ group at 50y (more like 3-4″)

sent in for fix…came back with a bent barrel (to fix the droop), new crown(still not good), adjusted trigger….could still not post a 1″ group at 50

i removed burrs in barrel, witch tighted it up considerably, now able to do 1″ groups at 50…but thats still not good for an expensive rifle like this…redid crown…MUCH better no able to clover leaf 5 shots at 50y

barrel is still bent…which is crap if you want to mount a shroud

now that it works i really like the rifle…punching .25 holes in critters rule

my overall rating would be 4/10 as a rifle at this price should be fucking working from the get go, and not require shipping it back…waiting…paying for shipping only to get a mildly polished turd back…and leave it up to the customer to do the work…this is somewhat ok for a chinese rifle…but for a cRapid (yes CRAPID)

its still front heavy as hell, and i prefer my aa410 carbine for hunting in .22 its lighter, smaller…precise and it worked right out of the box

for “sniping” plinking the rapid is ok, i cant have squirrels run off when i shoot them , and my only .25 atm is my rapid so thats what i use and they drop like a rock

mine was the 50 fpe version….i would not buy again nor reccommend it friends

its seems if you buy one you have to pay another 4-500 bucks to have someone tune it for you (be it new barrel, power etc) to get the accuracy and power…but that will take the rifle over 2K$ easily and its just not that good

theoben might have been respectable once…but they have gone to shit now

Would love to know the dimensions of the block.
Length, width and height.
Cannot afford a RAW rifle so want to build myown.

Thanks advance

The reg’d part is up to you. Rapid?

Bad points first. Heavy-OK, thats out of the way.

Buit to last a lifetime+.
Accurate
Several tuners that can make one do just about anything you want.
Easy to work on if needed.

Very good trigger
Great barrel lockup to frame.

Mike

Great platform!
