Q:

How do I open the hammer house (matador)

Hi all,

I need to open the hammer house to replace a bent part (below) and I wanted to know if someone else have experience in opening up this part of the rifle.

The black arrows (below) show some pins which I think I have to get out… how do I do that and is it possible to put the same pins back or will they need to be replaced once taken out?

Thankful for input

I second that “NEVER DO THAT”. I was emailing Tony about my problem and he specifically mentioned to never dry fire the trigger mechanism while it’s not on the gun. That’s not why mine failed, however. I think in my case it was an oversight during assembly.
I’m glad your back on track, qpush!

P.S. – put a little “BLUE” (non-permanent) loctite on the new rod when you get it. It will help it from backing on you and you not noticing.

If you get time posting some pictures if you have it apart would be good for someone else that runs into this problem? Or if that is not possible just posting what you had to do will help.

For details, see Tacoma_Tom’s post and link…

your right, I’ll “end” this thread with the fix + the reason why it happened.

The reason: I had detached the trigger/hammer section from the air tube and dry fired. As there was no natural stop (which would normally be the valve/regulator) the hammer kept going too much forward upon firing and bent the probe/piston/whatever its called. Never do that.

The fix: screw out the HST screw, take out the spring and unscrew the probe/piston. Wait for a new probe/piston, screw it back, followed by spring and HST screw.

I’ve made a few mistakes but I know more about my rifle today then I did a few weeks ago 🙂

Thanks, Q

Well, Cool! Glad I could help!
Happy Fixing! and then,
Happy shooting!

Awesome!

It seemed to me there were threads on that part but I wasn’t sure about it and being in touch with Ed (or Ed’s staff) by email I wrongly understood it as if I would have to take the whole thing apart.

phuuuu, what a relief!

Thanks, Q

I had the rod strip out the female threads on the “coupling” a while back. It looks to me like you need to replace the rod only. If that’s the case just unscrew your HST, slide out the spring and then the rod will unscrew as well. On mine, the female threads were bad so, I ended up having to get a whole new assembly from Tony. Hope it helps, sorry if it doesn’t.
Good luck with the fix!

I saw that video but there is no disassembly of the trigger/hammer part as far as I remember…

Look at oldgoats video of a tear down of the Edgun, I am not sure if you have to tear it down completely but I am thinking you might! His video is on the bottom of his post, he had also posted one from Ted’s holdover. I think this will help you out and is a good video to have for a complete dissasemble of the Edgun
