I’m looking to setup a 25-20 25″ barrel and am hoping to get velocitys in the 800-900 fps range depending on bullet weight is it possible for me to handle cocking it at 13lb and lastly how much would a valve/breech and guided hammer and spring setup run me I also need the barrel blank machined down and some bushings I have laying around fitted

Hi

What are you looking to do? Barrel length?

To make a .257 work it takes my .308 valve with a different stem. Works great.

So here’s the problem. You have to run a 13 lb hammer spring and it is very hard to cock in the stock position. I turn .257-.308’s into side cockers.

I had a guy out shooting yesterday and he could not cock my .25 with a 9.4 lb hammer spring in the stock location. I had to cock it for him. But he had no problem cocking my .257 or my .308 with the side cocking.

I’m not sure but I’m almost positive you will need I barrel guided hammer. Not trying to sell my parts but the reason I came up with the hammer was to stop cocking and misfire issues with heavy hammer springs. The heaviest spring I ran with a stock type hammer was 7.1 lbs.

So converting to .257 is a little more then a valve and breech to guarantee it works good and lasts.

I planned on contacting you to see if you could machine me a valve that could adequately propel the heavier 25/20 bullets could you Pm me about a valve/breech setup Greatly appreciated

I haven’t done one like that. I make the breech .375″. It would be .007″ thinner than a .25 which is pretty thin but works.

You won’t be able to push it to good with a condor valve. Smallest bullet is 69 gr HP and then there’s 74 gr.
