Q:

Condor Valve Options?

Hi All,

I have a .25 condor with a Talon valve. I am wanting to upgrade the valve for more power. My Condor has a 21″ barrel. I have contacted Tony and am looking at getting a 95 gn hammer and a Condor valve with restrictor mod. I was wondering what other options there are before I commit. I would like to shoot Jerry’s slugs. Will I need a stronger hammer spring?

Opinions requested….

I found that I can buy a spare air tank with a Hi Flow valve and spin lock for around $225.00

Can anyone point me to information on how to port and polish a hi flow valve?

Also, What needs to be done to the thread adapter in the condor to make the Spin Lock work?

quote Dyotat100:

It will work fine for smaller pellets. I’m not sure what it will do with 7 rings. The hole in the stem has to be smaller because there is now threads for the plugs.

I’m just saying if you want the most out of 7 rings. Use your talon valve for JSB’s and get a high flow from TT. Just change out the valve when you want to change.

Ah, I see what you are saying Doug, the threads in the stem may mess up the airflow for full power, plus the stem itself must be a smaller dia’ to take the threads. That makes sense. Only testing will see if that has much effect on full power.( which I suspect it will reduce power, though how much…)

I think what Daotat is saying is that the restrictor has threads that may mess with the air flow and not give the same flow as a smooth dedicated large bore valve.

Well if that is the case, then it will give less power. Which is what you are looking for for the JSBs? You answered your own question…

No, you won’t need another tank setup. The restrictor will only let a set amount of air through. By the time the pellet leaves the barrel the valve will shut again. The valve only stays open as long as there is enough back pressure to keep it open. A smaller hole ( valve restrictor) will obey these rules.

And the hammer and spring will work for both?

I just set up my rifle with a tank adapter and now I need another whole tank setup! Any idea how much a tank setup with the proper valve should cost?

The only way to do it right is 2 tank setups. One for slugs and another for JSB’s.

The restrictor stem is great but I haven’t seen any numbers to see if the smaller opening and the threads effect the power output for slugs.

For slugs you need all you can get out of the valve.

Ah, well as long as the valve comes ported and polished etc, then it should be a perfect choice. Unrestricted it will push the Surefire slugs well. Though of course a 24″ barrel would be the best option for max power.

I want the option to shoot JSB Exact, and Polymags.
I don’t want to make this a slug only gun.

If you are looking for more power, why are you buying a valve with a restrictor mod’ ?
