New AF Trigger
I got to handle a new talon P today. The new trigger is a real bummer.
Gun cannot be decocked like before. The breech is what applies the safety. It has a flat machined on the bottom it. I wish I could have taken it apart but I was happy just to be able to cut the zip tie off the trigger so I could play with it at the gun show.
I have a couple of pics in my phone I will post later. The frame has a notch on the side for the spring plate.
I drove 6 hrs round trip to look at this thing. Was there about 45 min and went home. Show was a swap meet basically. No manufactures or venders except Joe B and Tim from Mac1 was there.
So who’s going to buy a new AF gun and take it apart for me?

Yes safety slot is off set in the plate and the piece going through the guard is in the middle.
Looking at that safety.
It is in 2 peices right?
The part that goes through the trigger guard is bolted to the part in the frame.
That part from the frame is off center and it looks like they bolted a plate on to it to make it center as it passes in the trigger guard.
Is that right?
Yeah I guess no more including the spring plate in mine.
Still curious how the breech activates it

I guess the idea you gave me is out the window, but I can work with what they have there.
WokGards will be altered for the new safety as soon as I can get some measurements.

I plan on milling a slot for the new safety in the WokGard for it to move it. It will probably be adapted to the straight version of the WokGard first and then to the slanted version.
On the slanted version I plan on milling a vertical slot for the saftey and milling a horizontal slot to put a rod in work the safety…Kinda of like the way the Crosman MK1 pistol

In that case the new trigger must be the product a committee of brainless lawyers like the ones that became our average us congressman/congresswoman.

I think AF realized their rifles are SAFE only when they are unloaded. So this new trigger design forces you to fire the rifle once you put a pellet in the barrel.
I would bet money on it that AF had legal trouble over their safeties, and this is the result. A pellet in the chamber is a loaded weapon with these guns. I would surmise a dropped rifle could discharge enough air to propell a pellet, even uncocked. All it takes is enough inertia to move that hammer.

I’ve been around guns since i was 9 and pretty much taking them apart since.
I haven’t run across a trigger yet on ANY gun that was THAT complicated to figure out. Trigger and their mechanism are simple things. And GOOD LORD, we ARE TALKING ABOUT AIRFORCE after all and not DPMS AR-15’s.
I’m sure that MANY of us here on this very forum can figure out the trigger system on the new guns. Remember, if they put it together, WE can figure out how to take it apart.
Pretty soon, this year, there will be exploded diagrams from someone here that has mastered REMOVING the safety from the new guns.
What will likely happen is the safety will just go away like it does now.
AF and there new trigger setup.
I can still do a build if supplied with a frame and trigger setup.
Maybe it will be a easy fix? I know with out removing the safety a wokguard is going to be a lot of work.
Maybe if some material is remove off the safety so the breech doesn’t come in contact with it. Then it would be a manual safety and be able to uncock the gun.
Who knows until someone takes one apart and posts picks.

There is also a slot along the bottom of the breech, although that should have no effect on the guard. That is likely where the safety rears it’s ugly head.
Also, because the safety is so far back, there is no room for an external overtravel screw. I am sure such a modification is no longer necessary on the new design though.
