Hi knifemaker
It sucks when you lose close friends. Sounds like bob was a good guy
Hope he had a full life.

Howdy Mildot. One of my closest friends was from Riverside. RW, (Bob) Loveless. Of Loveless Knives. He passed away a couple of years ago.

If you want a look at a real life American Legend, goggle Bob Loveless!

Thanks for the info goat it was just what I wanted to know.

I currently get around 70 regulated shots, at 885 fps, on my R3, 25 long. My brand new R3, 25 standard came set up shooting the 25.4 grain JSBs at 950 fps. I adjusted the HST and regulator down and I am currently getting around 40 regulated shots with it. I still need to fine tune it and I expect it to get somewhere around 42-45 regulated shots, at 885 fps when I am done with tuning it.

The 25 standard will be my truck gun. I have a .257” Hart barrel that I am going to fit to the 25 long and then try shooting some of my 30 and 35 grain cast bullets out of it. That project is going to be interesting. If the Hart barrel project doesn’t work out, I will put the stock barrel back on it and I still be very happy with it.

I have a R2,.5 22 standard and a R3, 25 standard and a R3, 25 long. I sold my modified R2.5, 25 long a year ago and I got a R3, 22 long that I sold around a month later. I prefer the 25 cal over the 22 cal.

IIRC, the long versions are slightly less than 6” longer and weigh around a pound more. The extra weight and length don’t bother this old man as I am too shaky to try to shoot off hand.

If I was only allowed to own one Matador, it would be a R3, 25 long unless; Ed comes out with his 9 mm Matador! I don’t care about a 9 mm but, I could put a Hart .257” barrel on it and have plenty of power to shoot my cast slugs out of it.

I don´t think there´s any differece in energy figures. The long just has a higher shot count. That´s the case with the other calibers – according to EdGun website anyways. I´ve been wrong before though…

Thanks for the help.

I am interested too.
