RAW Rapid Air Weapons HM1000 mini Review

Hello, in this post i try to make a mini review of this airgun.

The RAW HM 1000 is a hunter rifle made in USA, by Rapid Air Weapons (RAW), really i must to recognize that this is a new brand for me, in other words i hesitate to buy.
Finally i take the risk, and bought it from Precision Airguns and Supplies, it cost 1550 the price include Shipping and handling (this is regulated version). The HM1000 come in a cardboard box, with a “finger” foam, and one 12shot magazine, manual, and filling probe.
In the Web they said that this is Rifle has features from the theoben rapid and RAW TM 1000.

The stock is a very nice wood stock, maybe walnut (really i dont know), this is only for Righthand. This has adjustable buttpad

The HM1000 and AA s510 carbine

The rifle is very long, is the same lenght of my FX royal 500

The tank is removable, has a capacity for 360 cc, is slim.

Only the tank

The barrel is a lothar walther barrel. barrel+silencer are 29″ of lenght, just the silencer only 8, and i guess that this is a 23″ barrel. The externar diameter is 15,84 mm (5/8″) In the picture you can see 3 big screws that attach the barrel to the frame

This airgun dont has GAUGE… i cant believe an expensive airgun without gauge…..

This side lever has a complicated bolt, i try to understand the action, and i can see that it has a 3 action system (may be im wrong, because i very hard to explain for me that i dont speak english), only when you close the lever appear a inner pivot, see the pictures
1. close lever and bolt

2. the lever at mid position (when you are cocking)

3 inner needle that push the pellet inside the barrel, i pull it with my finger

Tomorrow i will shoot it, then i will to make a string

camilof,

Have you had a chance to weigh your rifle? Do you shoot it exclusively from the bench or have you tried any offhand shots? I just wondered if it felt balanced. I’ve been considering one with a 500cc bottle. Thanks.

I like to shoot it off hand, the rifle feel well balanced, with a little of weight at the barrel. I can hit paintballs at 35 yards without problem.
I think that if you put the 500cc bottle, the balanced going to the barrel – front or the air gun. And the standar bottle can give 77 consistent shoots

saludos

Hmmm, looks like you could fit a 1″ shroud in there, like the MFR.

Very nice set up.

camilof,

Have you had a chance to weigh your rifle? Do you shoot it exclusively from the bench or have you tried any offhand shots? I just wondered if it felt balanced. I’ve been considering one with a 500cc bottle. Thanks.

Finally today i can make some shoots with 3 different pellets at 50 yards (46 metros). JSB Jumbo 15,9 grs, AA 18 grains (same JSB Jumbo Heavy) and H&N Baracuda 21 grains 5.51

Rifle. HM1000 + Bushnell Elite 4200 6-24X42.
I use a Caldwell Rest, nevertheless it was not completly stable.

on the other side

5 shots at 55 yards with
JSB Jumbo diabolo

HN Baracuda 5,51

AA 18 grs

JSB 15,9 grs (at 897 fps)

Finally. This is my personal observations, this is not a comercial post or anything like that.
Conclusions. I got the best shoots with JSB Jumbo and Baracuda.
On the other hand, i feel that the rifle has a little recoil, and if you can´t “tame” it then you can´t Get half inch gorups at 50 yards. The air gun is very sensitive when you grip, you must to grip firmly and in the same way, and like i didn´t adjust the trigger (i think that it was a very big mistake), i feel a lot of movement when i shoot, then. I will to adjust it and make other test

Wow, THAT is a string!!!

Theoben is the UK partner/second half of RAW. 😉 I believe two guys started the company and when it expanded one of them came here to build a very similar rifle. Probably ot exactly what happened but relatively close.

Although I think someone just bought Theoben.

I’ve been considering the HM1000 primarily for informal bench/target fun with my rimfire friends. I contacted RAW and Precision Air and was told the actual weight was approximately 8.5 pounds. What does your rifle weigh? If I go for it I’ll be getting the quick fill & gauge as well as the reg.

Nice! That’s one helluva a shot string!

That is a lot of consistent shots!

wow, that is a great rifle, and I confident it will be a shooter too!

Thanks FVA

The 77th shot the velocity decrease to 840, and the follow will down, then i only show the results for 77 shots.
On the other hand the first 10 shots has a great variation, whereas the other shot arte very consistent (may be the fill pressure will be 2900 psi, instead of 3000 (i will to test it)

The Airgun has a magazine, in the back has the THEOBEN label, it is for 12 shoots, and the airgun has a big slot for load one by one pellet, this make very confortable to do that.

Magazine back, brand THEOBEN

Pic two fingers for load a pellet in the barrel

Tank and probe

filling the tank at 3000 psi with a paintball ninja tank modified (valve by jsdairman) output 3000 psi

Finally i hope to make the accuracy test as soon as possible!!! enjoy the pics

Nice looking rifle. Actually both of em. Looking forward to the rest of your report.
