New Outdoor Silent Pellet Trap
I will post final pictures tomorrow once the glue sets (steel backing) and I install the reactive targets.
The goal is an all weather 14ft/lbs or less silent outdoor pellet trap. I know the duct seal and steel target will last but my problem was a wooden shooting box that failed in less than six months.
The new pellet trap uses a $10 Target plastic storage cube 14″x14″x14″ with a 22 gauge sheet steel back and carry handle. The sheet steel has glue and metallic tape holding it in place.

All done. I’ve used some bolts to stabilize the top of the target (cable ties and red electrical tape) plus duct seal to stop the bottom sliding. Note the fender washers on the outside to add strength to the plastic walls. And of course 0.75″ to 1.25″ of duct seal on the back wall.
Now I’m waiting for the cold front to move for a warm evening shooting in the back yard.
