Q:

Edgun fill pressure

Just got the .25 Std yesterday; this is my first PCP and I’m a bit unsure of the fill pressure…the gauge on the gun goes to 300 with a small 350 after that which I assume means you’re OK up to 300 but no higher.

Gun was filled to 200 when I got it from Tony, and I added 25 more so I’m at 225 in the gun right now.

I’ve seen a couple of different recommended max fills (240, 210, whatever).

What max fill works best with the regulator in an Edgun?

Thanks

EdGun

Kekou,

Best advice anyone here can give you would be to tell you to take the time to read all the posts here on this forum. Then if you have any questions I would advise you to read them again. Then if you have any questions(and you will) post them here for others to respond to. I don’t mean to sound harsh but by doing this, the advice given will make more sense and will ultimately provide a safer environment if you do decided to tinker, mod, or service your Edgun. Information here is valuable and worth the time to invest in. Many links to videos that also serve to protect and instruct you so do your HOME WORK FIRST!!! Best advice I can give. Excellent advice^^^^^^.

sorry, the above post by me was meant for RCMann or any body new to
PCP/edgun. These airgun forms are beyond valuable and have served us well and are very fortunate to have those in the know to post and educate the rest.

Another way to know spiraling is to check your shots for “keyholing”, where the pellet impacts sideways and leaves other than a circular hole.

A spiraling pellet will most often leave an oblong hole, and in serious cases it will look like a keyhole for a skeleton key, kind of like a figure eight on it’s side.

I tried this method yesterday 🙂 With my speed 860 is no visible spiraling.

So how do you determine the very best FPS:pellet weight ratio? Forgive my remedial question but I am learning and would like to tune/adjust my Edgun.

Easiest most precise way is with high speed camera to see if pellet is spiraling at distance. Simple way is to shoot at a large black target with sun at back illuminating back of pellet. You can see spiral although not in slow motion like with camera. Keep adjusting speed down until no visible spiraling and groups tighten up.

I´m filling the cricket for 240bar with the Hill pump MKII without problem. I get 6 mags. Power is set to 860ft – 18,06grain JSB

Several posts on the bullpup forum have addressed the higher 300 bar fills available on the Cricket, vs the 200-210 bar fill on the Edgun.

Users have advised the max fill at 300 bar wastes air and doesn’t really accomplish much in increasing shot count. Most shooters use 200 bar, give or take a few bars, and have found this seems to result in the most reliable and consistent shoot count.

As with FPS, more is not always better. Find the most efficient pellet speed for the pellet weight you use, find the most efficient psi your regulator can handle, and you will obtain the best results.

The ideal, and most accurate fps seems to range from 850 to 925 for most shooters. 200 bar seems to be the most efficient for most shooters.

Just my observations.

I fill it up to 220 bar, then the air get colder and it is about 210-200 bar, that is OK.

Spasiba!

I fill it up to 220 bar, then the air get colder and it is about 210-200 bar, that is OK.

Just fill to the 200 mark and shoot it. After a couple thousand pellets and time reading this forum you will know your gun And can get into regulator HST adjustments that will be stable.

Hi, I am fairly new to PCP as well but have learned a bit from friends, forums and of course youtube. I too got my Egun Matador .25 standard on Saturday…I love it! I also shoot a Marauder .22, knock down power from the Matador .25 is amazing.

Here is a bit on your question, 1bar=14.5037738 Psi. On Ed’s website it say max operating pressure is 210bar or 3045psi. I hope this helps.

I personally would not fill higher, but again I am new to PCP like you and maybe others here with more information could comment on that (over filling) for you.

Here is a link to the Edgun manual in enghlish that might help you out, http://www.100mairgun.nl/file.axd?file=Manual+Matador+English.pdf
