What’s better, Etac canted adapter or TTTA?
I’m getting my first air rifle this week (Talon SS) with an Etac canted fill adapter on it. I also have a TTTA on order from back when I thought I was getting a new Condor. Any opinions about which is better?

I have both the short E-Tac and the TTTA.
The short E-tac with cant is comfortable to shoot once you get it out of your mind that the rifle looks bent. But It does not easily break down for transporting or refills from the standard hand pump. It only added about 1 5/8″ to the length.
Tony’s TTTA easily wins on looks, is about 2″ long and is easily removed for transport or standard hand pump refill. I’ve only put a couple hundred rounds out with the TTTA but am very happy with it.
I have not had the one from Tony, but had another brand of angled tank adapter, and I have had both the short and long canted ETAC.
Like Doug, I suspect that the angled tank adapter will cost you some power when using the uber powered valves, but I have no proof.
What I do know is of the three options, the long Etac will let you remove the bottle, the short one will not, the angled one from Tony I don’t know but the one I had would not allow removal of the bottle..
They all do a dandy job of making a clumsy rifle a little easier to live with.

I can’t speak for the TTTA but I have the long, canted ETACs w/regs on both of my rifles and they have been a great addition. I’m 6’1″ and the extra 3.5″ of pull length worked out perfectly for me so I was able to remove the tank extensions I had made. The drop combined with right offset also has allowed much better cheek weld without contorting my neck to see through the scopes.
I highly recommend the regulator option as it has made my rifles consistent throughout the fill rather than in a narrow band of tank pressure as was the case before they were installed. With a 3,000 psi fill, I get about 50 shots with my .25 18″ Talon at 37 fpe and about 80 shots with my .22 Talon SS at 25 fpe. Both regs are set to 2,000 psi as I care more about accuracy than knocking down elephants. I’m getting 1 MOA at 50 yds when I take my time.
I know that Anthony (TTTA) is regarded as a near-god on this forum but I also had very good luck dealing with Jim Gaska on the ETACs. He was very knowledgeable and just a pleasure to deal with.
The installation procedure is identical for both the ETAC and the TTTA. I was dubious about just wrapping a rag around my tank before putting it in the vise so I wrapped it in a catalog that was about 3/4″ thick to be sure I was applying even pressure to it. I suggest you tighten the vise no more than is absolutely needed to keep the tank from turning when removing the valve.
Whichever one you choose, your neck is going to thank you!
I’m waiting for someone to send me a gun work on that has one so I can test and see if I can make the same power with one.
My condor has the TTTA. Coming to your hands soon…
love the short etac with drop and offset cant. true, you arent able to remove the bottle w/etac from the gun if you have a gauge and fill nipple but theres really no reason to do this once the gun is all set up and ready to rock. it can, however, be removed if you unscrew the takedown bolt that runs through the underside of the frame.
the only thing i dont like about etac is the weight. MM uses solid steel with very shallow fluting. this thing alone added about 1.5lbs to my talon. im sure a lighter metal could have been used but at least theres piece of mind knowing the thing wont rupture right into my eye only a few inches away 😆
SY -Not sure on the long version. ❓ I had two Etacs, one with drop and one straight. I used them just to get the guns tuned for fill and shot string chrony work. Once I did that, I sold them.
FYI – I put one of the regs from http://www.altaros.cz/. Jusat like the Etac, it has both a fill fitting and a gauge.
Definitely, definitely worth the extra $$$ over the Etac. 😀 😀
Only adds just under 3”(?) to the OAL and I can remove the bottle.
I can get 75 shots (I’ll dig up the chrony print out and post a pic when I get back into town later this week) from my .22 with a 24” barrel spitting 18.1 JSB at 900fps with only an SD of 3 and change. 3000psi fill shot down to 1500psi.
I sold my SS or I’d put the reg on mine and try it but I’ll bet a guy could get 50 plus shots of the same at 700fps.
Long etac unscrews and short one doesn’t. I haven’t seen a TTTA in person yet.
I’m waiting for someone to send me a gun work on that has one so I can test and see if I can make the same power with one.
Even on the long version?
It all depends if you want more length of pull or drop. Although they may provide the same amount of both. 😕
It “looks” like the TTTA would have more drop. The Etac offers two different lengths.
With the Etac, you won’t be able to remove the bottle from the frame without emptining the tank. Gauge on the tank won’t clear the back of the frame if you try to unscrew it.
Not a big deal unless you need to transport in a teardown fashion. I always like to put my SS in a backpack when goin to the woods.
Kept my hands free for binoculars and range finder.

I think if Tony could figure out how to put an “in tank” Reg. on his adapter, similar to the Altros, he would have the Hands down Winner! 😉 😀
