Q:

#1 time going sub-inch at 168 yards

There is something I want to share with you. The gun club Iยดm member start to expand the main stand up to 220 yards. Last weekend I managed to shot for the very first time at 168 yards with my beloved Hatsan AT Monoshot 5,5mm (aka Hammerli Pneuma .22). After dealing with the scope and POI (which demanded a lot of patience) and a shy beginning with some big targets I had a couple hours of pure and explosive fun! Enjoy!

Hoot,

U asked what us 257 long range guys do when shooting out to 200 yards!

NOTHING!

I’m zeroed at 75 yards. 50 yards is 1st HIGHER mil dot. 100 yards is 1st LOWER mil dot. 150 yards is 3rd LOWER mil dot. 175 yards is 4th LOWER mildot. 200 yards is lower cross hair post. Anything 200 yards and closer is DOA. EASY!

Anything past 2 hundred like 230 or 250, i bring my scope turret up a few moa and use the 4th lower mil dot.

Past about 250 yards, i gotta start using LOWER mag or, use more Elevation Turret.

Without getting into TOO much adjustments here and there, i would feel more than comfortable making a 300 yard shot easy with my current scope. Its a simmons and it clear.

The gun has range, i just need a scope with more elevation adjustments. Originally, the scope that is on the gun didn’t get the memo that i was building a 500 yard gun ๐Ÿ˜† ๐Ÿ˜† ๐Ÿ˜† ๐Ÿ˜† ๐Ÿ˜† ๐Ÿ˜€ ๐Ÿ˜ฏ

Yes, les mag. will give you more dots. But that isn’t what I am asking. He said because the target was elevated. Now what does that have to do with it? You figure distance at the imagned horizontal base, Not the elevated difference.

On a scope like my Hawke 6.5-20 the mil-dots are true at 20X. The scope has full dots and half dots on the cross-hairs. I have a zero range of 42 yards. On a recent squirrel hunt I had a shot at 151 yards. On my Chairgun drop chart I needed 9 full mil-dots to make the shot. At 20X I do not have 9 dots available. If I drop to 10X then each half dot now becomes a full dot and gives me more aiming points to use. You get less magnification but more aiming points. If I was going to do a lot of distance shooting I could also change my zero range to a longer distance I suppose, but most of my shots are under 100 yards.

I read somewhere else that someone had to do the same thing, cut magnification in half, to get enough mildots to reach the target.

Odd….kind of defeats the purpose of ultra-high magnification.

I wonder what the .257 long rangers here do about that problem when shooting way out there, beyond 100 to 200 yards?

The shooting skills possessed by some people on this forum sometimes amazes me.

Due the targets being in significant higher ground I had to decrease magnification to 15x in order to get the POI in the lower mil-dot of the scope.

WTF is that supposed to have to do with it? ๐Ÿ˜• What, your gun cannot move?

I guess at that distance he ran out of mildots at the higher mag. Reducing mag let him use the last mildot on his reticule?

Oh ok, you were at the range. OK, I GET IT NOW.

I sometimes shoot at the range also and each and every time, someone starts a conversation up with me while i am filming. So i get it. Lots of oddball conversations and gunshots in the video while I’m shooting/filming.

I agree with you and most videos of my channel have no music during the shooting. The problem is that this time I wasnยดt alone in the shooting range and people talking was much more annoying … specially for non portuguese speakers, believe me. ๐Ÿ˜›

Great shooting i agree.

BUT my only problem IS THE MUSIC BRO. THAT WAS ANNOYING! Please You Tubers, stop with the loud music while shooting and or racing motorcycles. I love hearing the sound of the gun and or engine…..lol!

What magnification did you use?
