Can’t close barrel on brand new nitro piston Benjamin

I gave my son a new nitro piston Benjamin for his birthday today but we can’t manage to close the action/barrel. Anybody have any tips? It just stops solid when I try to lift the barrel. The spring loaded plunger lock thing moves when I push it, but not when trying to close the action.

Any tips appreciated, I’m not looking forward to shipping this back to airgun depot.
