Q:

Right Direction Please?

Hi, I have just got myself what I think is a MK1 valve. Bought the bottle and valve off a guy who told me it was bust, air just escapes. I have stripped the valve down and it looks like someone has had a go at DIY porting and madw a bit of a hash. also one of the ‘O’ rings inside was split by what looks like the rough edges left on the top hat stem. Is there any sort of seal kit or refurbed parts available? The valve body also has jaw marks on it but i think i could get this polished/skimmed at work.

Cheers,
Stu.

Check the Quick Reference Section, you will find the o-ring sizes there. As far as the valve stem seat, as others have mentioned before, just chuck the stem lightly in a drill, spin it and use a fine grit sandpaper on the seat to freshen it up. Replace those bad o-rings, test with low pressure first (saves air), and you may very well be good to go.
