Q:

Which has a more stable reg – Matador or Cricket?

What do the shot strings show so far?

A guy sent me his brand new R3 25 cal long Matador for tuning. It was shooting in the 960s. I AM NOT in the Matador tuning business! His was a special case and I wanted to help him out.

I got his gun to shoot 69 shots in the 885s with a max deviation of 9 fps and a SD of 0.9 fps!

My Matadors all do 8-10 MD but; they are all around 1.2-1.9 fps SD.

I offered to buy the gun off of the guy!

He wanted it back. 😥

Tedd,

If Al (Einstein) is to Relativity, Oldgoat is to Matador Tuning..

…yes….. 🙂

I think regulator in cricket is quite good 🙂

I start shooting from 200bar – 110bar
I got 65 shots with power 919ftlb

The last five shots were form 906 to 896 I stop shooting and manometer showed 110bar

Do you think matador do the same result?

I couldn’t be any happier with my EdGun!!!

Well maybe if I had two. 😆

Really though, It’s everything I hoped to get and looks to be a perfect size for field target too. I was REALLY skeptical regarding using it for FT, it’s PERFECT!!!

And it shoots the pellets my other rifle doesn’t like!! 😀

Right now the extreme spread is 24fps over 120 shots. I expect that to get better over time. I have somewhere between 300-500 pellets through it.

We have a couple yrs of proven Edgun regulator extremely tight fps numbers.
Time will tell how the Crickets hold up. They came out swinging for sure.
Ed has said time and time again he sets them up hot to break in and then To adjust down. Extra power on tap but cruising along at a lower setting.
Good times for the enthusiasts.

Demp, I think you are right. Once the EdGun reg gets broken in they look pretty damn good!!!

Those are numbers very, very similar to the Cricket’s initial numbers.

out of box it would appear the Crickets are set lower fps. Stability could possibly be from double stacked Bellville washers clamping down.
Ed sends them out a bit hot to break in.
From what I know from use the Matadors are very stable and very efficient.
Ran a couple strings tonight. Both guns from 200-100 bar.
Matador 22 long=114 shots on reg, JSB 18s at 885fps,max spread of 9fps,Sd of 2.4fps. 28k pellets on this regulator.
Matador 25 long= 71 shots on reg,JSB 25 at 920fps,max spread of 11fps,SD of 4.2fps.
appx 1700 pellets through gun.still breaking in.
I personally think its a tie stability wise with Edgun being a bit more efficient

by the initial reviews posted here and at the yellow, it seems so to me too.
