Q:

Pressure gauge in R3

The gauge on sn 479 seems to read a little low. Without a calibrated source it is hard to be certain but my other guns have agreed with the gauge on the fill tank. Right now when the tank pressure says its feeding 3050 PSI the gun is registering about 185 bar. This might be explained if the quick fill mechanism has some serious preload on the inlet valve or gauge might be off. For now I am going to play it safe and use the higher of the 2 – ie tank source. If gun really is 185 no harm done.

Anyone else seen anything like this?

Hi Ed,

I thought that the o-ring would not give that much resistance.

But it is an good explanation why almost ALL the R3’s are low compared to the filling gauge.

Thanks, Robert

quote Veerkracht:

Why?

Because of the filling valve.

Why?

The gauge on the rife ALWAYS shows less pressure then on the tank or the pump.

My Cricket shows about 10% low and my Edgun about 5% low compared to my Joe B gauge and the hose fill assembly. Crickets are strange because they take a few minutes to equalize.

quote Lol Moore:

I have a digital pressure calibrator accurate to 2 decimal places and have been meaning to look at just this issue for some time as i have several guns with gauges and they are all different in relation to the fill bottle gauge.

If I get chance tomorrow I will “tee” the calibrator into the fill line and measure exactly what is going on – I will report back ๐Ÿ˜€

Thanks. I am looking forward to seeing your data.

In general, the smaller the pressure gauge the less accurate it is going to be.

Guys cricket the same! I have pumping to 210bar according hill pump manometer and cricket gauge shown 200bar. 10bar is differences…

I have two R3ยดs and both of them read little low on the gun gauge. When the (fairly accurate) fill tank cauge reads almost 210 bar both gun gauges read 200 bar. That 10 bar difference seems to be the norm regardless how much/little i fill these guns.
