Edgun: Long or Standard
Which did you choose and why? If you have both, do you find the Long unyieldy at all? I’m trying to decide which to order.

We have a 25 long and (about 8) standard Edguns in stock at the moment 4x.22 and 4x .177
after seeing what power the .25 are capable of (from a customer that bought one) i would get the long in .25 in a heartbeat a few inches sort of deteats the point of having a Bullpup but the extra shots you get has to be worth it , the only time this would be negated is if you only ever shoot in your garden where filling is not a problem
PS. what is the wait time if you order a rifle now ?
Thanks for all the inputs! I ended up ordering the Standard and it arrived today! It’s an awesome gun (if one can say that without having shot it). The size feels just perfect.
I personally like the long, because its easier to shoot offhand. A bullpup takes sometime to get used to shooting because of the length, a little wiggle ends up to be alot at the end of the barrel. I also like more shoots per fill. The long is not that long.
Is Rahm E going to let you have a gun in Chicago? 🙂 I was born and raised in Hinsdale.
I am 6′ and 200 lbs. Seriously, I have the standard .22 Cricket (65 shots) and standard .25 Matador (45 shots). For most hunting, I have not found any shot count to be an issue that was over about 30 (100 is great but so what?). If you ever shoot off hand you may not care for a long as much. There is also a difference walking through brush as well. Same is true if you shoot from a UTV like I do occasionally (run the tree line looking for sparrows). Weight is a factor as well. Not just absolute weight but balance away from your body. You can really feel it if you have both guns to try next to each other. Did you watch Ted in Madison’s review of the .25 Long Edgun? He complains about the length and weight for his size and says he is going to sell it for a standard. Now the Matadors are even a little longer than the Crickets.

I agree with Greasemagnet.
In car use = standart .22 (or short)
In other cases it doesnot matter that much.
The weight front with off hand shooting can be a personal thing, you’ll have to try it.

Some food for thought. Between the long and the standard, it depends on how you want to use it and I know you said hunting and basement shooting but if you plan on using it from inside a vehicle go with the standard because the long is about 4″ to long to comfortably use from inside a vehicle. If you walk thru the woods then the long is almost the perfect length as the standard does not have enough weight out front to help stabilize off hand shooting and it has a better shot count. And .22 is a good choice.HTH.
What caliber and what are your plans to do with it?
Planning on a .22 and it will be used primarily for hunting with some shooting in my basement range.

Well – i was 6´3″ and 235 lbs untill 18 months ago when a Motocross related accident left me paralyzed from waist down. Since i´m now wheelchair bound the std compact size and weight suits me perfectly. Before the accident i could´ve dragged a truck around woods so i understand what you men. I´ve been looking at those .25 longs though since the .25 std shot count is kinda low. The difference isn´t actually that big – 6″ or so ??
I like the longs for extra shot count. 22 get appx 115 @885fps with JSB 18s and 25 gets appx 70 @ 915fps with JSB 25s. At a bit over 34″ it’s still very compact. My Mathews Monster compound bow is just a bit longer and that’s my primary killer so the carry is basically the same for me. I’m 5-10.5″ 225lbs and its a breeze to carry all day.
I chose standard – or actually two of them . For the compact size. For me the long kinda negates the whole meaning of a Bullpup … For ME that is.

I got two longs & one standard al in .25 and now I regret not getting two standards, after spending time with both I can assure you you will be better off with the standard especially since your going for .22 so the extra shot count at that caliber isn’t going to be significant.
The standard isn’t that much shorter than the long but the feel is huge.
