Wooden stock (frame) ideas

I’ve seen some of the wooden stocks that people have done but I wondering what would make for a good type of wood to use for that? I wish I could do an all metal one that would be kind of interesting but lack the equipment and know how lol

You could always make your first one out of thin plywood like I did.

Just glue the stuff together and rough sand it with a dremel. You might end up liking it and keep it, I did. 😉

I changed it so much it finally ended up like this, sorta. No recent pic

Walnut is always a good choice, maple, oak, cherry, mahogany, even hickory, any hard wood really and all of which can be found at Menards. Home Depot surprisingly does not have as much from what I have seen.. some of the exotic woods make a cool unique stock.

Have you figured out a good wood for a stock? I am working on a stock (well just for grip back to the pistol grip) right now. This one (for my Talon) I am making out of Maple, I also acquired some bamboo, to attempt a bamboo stock for my Condor.

I have been having having the same thought myself, I would like to make my own, but not a full stock just a one piece pistol grip and fore grip. I am thinking about laminated bamboo for the material. Anyone ever heard of using bamboo for a stock?
