Q:

Who knows of an authorized NV repair shop?

Anybody know of an authorized repair shop that works on Night Vision Scopes?
My 2 Gen + took a crap and I think all it is was a failed dimming switch circuit.
I called ITT and they told me it was 50/50 that I have the old style tube with an external dimming circuit vs. the newer style with an internal dimming circuit.
If its the old style, its a $45 service fee and I’m in the clear.
If not, its over $1k for a new tube. 🙁

I need somebody knowledgeable and honest. I’m not so sure ITT wouldn’t just tell me I needed a new tube.

This Sucks!!! My scope is 15 years old but has less than 20 hours on it. Tube service life is 5000 hours. WTF!?!

I’m sure its the dimmer because the muzzle flash off of my AR was dimming it down, no problem – next time I turned it on to shoot a group, it was the black screen of death. BUT I could see a slight spot of illumination trying to light everything up.

I came home thinking the batteries took a shit, but no go even with freshies.

Anybody know anybody else in the U.S. that is trustworthy?

Please PM me with their contact info.

Otherwise I have a big, fat hunk of $2800 shit on a nice Elcan mount.
🙁

If someone is intimately familiar with NV and wants to walk me through disasembly and inspection, I’m game.
I just remember when I toured the shop building my scope, they had red lights like you use when developing film so the tubes wouldn’t be damaged.
What about the nitrogen purge so it doesn’t fog?

GGRRRR!!

You would think when you pay for quality @ 72 lines per mm resolution the damn stuff would be bomb proof!

Thank you!

First, go here and post your question and problem again: http://www.nightvisionforums.com/phpBB3/viewforum.php?f=6

This is an ITT specific NV forum with very knowledgable members.

Don’t believe for one minute ITT can’t tell you from the serial number what dimmer circuit was used.
If you don’t have any luck, tell me what model name/number, and serial number it has, and if it was a U.S. purchase.
