Q:

Is it ok to convert a talon tank to Co2 by swap a valve?

Hi guys, I am new here, having heavily read as much info as I possibly can for couple days. Still no luck of my subject.

I am easily access to bulk Co2 than compressed air. Currently I am using 12 oz paintball co2 tank with airforce co2 adapter and leave my talon tank in a box.

My question is can we just switch a valve from AF co2 adapter with talon tank? Can I refill with my bulk fill paintball kit? I have AF QD refill adapter.

Thanks

Yes, the co2 adapters valve will fit right in your tank. But, I still don’t think it would work or you should do it.

1) The af valve is designed to handle air/air-co2 gas mix..not liquid Co2 like a paintball valve.
2) I think the co2 adapter (being so big) acts like an expansion chamber for the co2 to expand into gas, so taking it out of the loop may be a bad idea. I think when you shoot co2, you are really shooting off the small volume of co2 gas in this chamber.
3) I just don’t know for sure..Doug..

I think to use your current AF tank you should find a CO2 paintball tank valve that will screw right into your AF tank(if there is such an animal), then run it through the AF Co2 adapter just like you are doing right now..I think you NEED that expansion area..

Last and not least…why bother pb tanks are dirt cheap..be easier to just get a few more 12oz or larger co2 tanks..

I mean replace a valve on an AF standard Talon tank with a valve from AF Co2 adapter. It is the same thread.

The problem I can think of is how to refill this setup with standard bulk fill Co2. I have a AF Quick Disconnect Refill Adapter too.

Airforce does make a CO2 adapter for the gun. I received one when I bought my gun

Thats a question I have never heard before..which is good.

Well, kinda.

A standard paintball tank is rated around 850psi, a AF tank is rated at 3000psi,
I’m sure both have a built in safety fudge factor, add 500psi.
You CAN NOT put 3000psi in a paintball tank…bad idea, danger…Will Robinson!
Putting Co2 in a 3000psi tank would be fine.

However, I don’t think the paintaball valve will fit in the Airforce tank
