Tuning
Iv shot 1000 pellets through my 22 matador and been hearing a lot about tuning it. Why do they need tuning what benefits will I get out of de pressurising my gun?
I’m a little worred about stripping my gun as I’m very good at braking things and not very good at putting things back together :-/

Everybody should have a spare air valve rod for their Matador! It will eventually need it.
I agree with Demp; you can get O rings locally: not sure about the regulator’s bellville washers but, I don’t think that they will wear out till after a couple of 100,000 shots.
I had over 20,000 shots on my R2.5 25 cal long and it broke an air valve around every 5,000 shots until I turned it down to 885 fps. I was a power junky for a while and I liked to shoot 25.4 grain JSBs at 1050 fps. Once I turned it down to 885, I don’t recall breaking one at that speed.
I also discovered that the 25.4 grain JSB were far more accurate at 885 that at 1050! I like to do head shots on sparrows, starlings and ground squirrels at 100+ yards. It became so much easier to do once the JSBs were ONLY going 885.
Again, anybody that has a Matador really needs to have at least one air valve rod in stock! They cost $35 shipped and you would feel very stupid if it broke and you didn’t have a spare!
It can be changed out in 20 min or so.
I currently have 5 in stock: you just never know when you might need one!
