Q:

Help Cricket not taking air

Hello to all ,
Long time since I have posted.

Side note : I am not well versed at taking down and fixing guns but I can do a little.

2 weeks ago my cricket .25 had a leak. So I called the company where I bought it and they said replace the o-ring. Ok no problem.
I replaced the O-ring and gently greased it up and installed the cap back on.

Now it will not take air. Nothing.

So i called the company which is always willing to help and they sent a completely new airtube with gauge. I took out the airtube and installed the new one.

SAME THING.. will not hold air.

What am I doing wrong? Thanks for your help,
JR

I guess I was kinda slow too…in Columbus here.

Hey Jr

I’m in northern Summit county.
Have fx, evanix, and logun.
53 yd range
FWIW

I am in Medina , OH

I did not see your response soory for the delay

I’m glad you got your baby up and running! Where abouts are you in Ohio…that’s where I am…in Columbus.

I have my cricket .25 firing correctly without sending it out. I wish I can say I knew what was corrected but I took off the airtube and reinstalled and then…. “angels music” ……it was filling and it was firing!

It always seems like something happens with my airguns but I am happy she is shooting again.

Thank you all for responding and Steve at TopGun has been very supportive!

Try one more thing….are you certain the fill probe is all the way into the fill port?

Lifting up the spring loaded cap over the fill port can sometimes require three hands, and the cap can slip down just a bit, and stop the probe from going all the way in.

When you dry fire it, do you hear the hammer hit the valve? If not, check your hammer spring tensioner on the back of the breech to be certain it’s not backed itself out.

Before you send it back, realize it’s probably something simple.

Anyway…worth a try.

My cricket is a .22 standard and was shooting 16g JSB at 890, so it was not over powered. I think the factory knows it is a problem because the new valve pins are made out of aluminum and rubber. Got mine from AOA.

Thanks all for the input

Greasemagnet you had the same problem? ughh I will ship it back. Steve has been very supportive.

Can this delrin material be made to replacemnt this valve pin ?

JR

Is this related to .25s only, – like we’ve seen in some Edguns, – or is it related to “overpowering” a gun meant for lower speeds and less hsp tension ????

I believe Oldgoat’s experience came from him being a “powerjunkie” (he admitted it himself) some time back trying to shoot beyond the limit of the gun’s internals which inevitably ended with a broken valvestem……. 😉

Plastic? Why not Delrin? Can the part easily be replicated in Delrin?

My cricket did the same thing, found out it was a busted valve pin, we are going to be seeing a lot more because the sealing surface of the valve pin is plastic.
I think you are going to need to dump the air and replace the valve pin.

hmmmmmm……

This sounds weird…….

Did you get a complete new airtube with a new regulator and everything ?

If not, you should have been able to check that there was no air in the tube, – just a hollow “pipe”. If the latter is the case and your gun gauge still is in the green, – the gauge seems pressurized but somehow your air is not getting passed the gauge. Makes no sense to me at all……..

If you have an airtube with pressure in it and the gauge in green/yellow and no air is coming out when you fire, – it is either the regulator that will not let the air pass, or the valve assembly that will not open. In the latter case, – most likely the valve stem has broken. Or it could be that your hammerspring is not able to open it, – either because it is broken or simply turned in too little.

You need to test more and update us please…….. 😉

Good luck……! 😀

I cocked the gun but that did not work.

In fact, on this new airgun tube the arrow on the color gauge is on green towards yellow which it would mean it is full.
But when I cock the gun dry fire, the is no power. Meaning you would expect to see and hear strong sound of pressure.. soft liitle poof.

Strangest thing….frustrated.

Might have to ship everything back to the company.

Probe works

Hello Trygve..long time since we talk

Gauge does not move
I do not hear the air going in
There is no more leak.

I did not cock it

Let me try that.

JR

I have no clue, but based on experience from other guns it may be a good idea to cock it before refilling…..

Can you hear air going in ??? Do you see your fill gauge moving ???

Can you hear the leak ???

More details would be good !!!
