Stability. Its’ not like having a tri-leg portable bench rest along or even a bipod. I have a Caldwell Stable Table which is a portable bench rest on a covered deck but the wind can howl through occasionally. Even with a short bipod on the table the wind does not move the gun at all. With the Caldwell Dead shot I had a side wind and it oscillated the gun sideways slightly but enough to upset target shooting even as I held the gun. No problem for deer hunting where an inch here or there didn’t matter on the target. I used a portable bench rest for prairie dog shooting or a long bipod too where the distances were great with PBs. For outdoor hunting with the air gun now I use a long bipod which is kind of in between the dead shot and the portable bench stability wise since the portable bench rest isn’t practical in the field most of the time.
It would be better inside or when the wind is pretty calm.
Secoda Do you think it´s only for hunting? Why we could not use it for target shooting?
Well I have a heavy duty photographer bipod that can support a lot of weight.
I have been looking at that item also. Has anyone out there used this item? If so, what do you think?
To use this, you have to make sure to use a tripod that is sturdy enough to support your rifle mmostmcamera tripod are made
To support only a couple of pounds. You will spend more than the field pod costs.

They have unfinished, brown, camo from prices ranging from $81.00 to $106.00, depending on how fancy you want the finish.
Personally, I’d get some camo duct tape and DIY.
This definitely looks like it could be the perfect piece to go with a folding canvas chair out in the middle of nowhere…

I have used as buddy’s a few times with PBs. It is definitely for hunting and not target shooting. When I used it for deer hunting the wind gave it fits (oscillating) and I used a tree for more stability.
At about 180 USD total (incl. shipping and taxes) it isnt cheap but cheap enough 🙂
Its not one of those things that you will use for 6 months and then feel its “getting old, I need the better, updated version”… this will give you many years of fun so from that perspective its a great buy.
I will use it for hunting too come autumn/winter. Set up a small blind on some rabbit/pheasant fields I know of and just sit there patiently and wait. super comfy!
Thanks! Yeah, the wheelchair is a bit higher than a regular chair but with those measurements it´s high enough and then some. Now i´m really into that thingie since the price is acceptable too.
Sir Ville, it can be extended quite a bit… fully extended theres about 84cm between the floor and the center of the horizontal tube + 15cm/20cm additional height adding the vertical “V” supports (back/front). Fully extended, the base of your air tube would be about 104cm above the ground.
I guess the slightly higher chair is your wheel chair… do some math and If the height is ok for you I can really see how you would benefit from it. good support (not as stable as a bench rest but about 80% maybe) and “resistance-adjustable” sideways/up/down mobility.

I ordered it from Cabelas and the purchase price (camo version) was $104.99 + shipping $47.25. Typical european import taxes are 20-25% based on the purchase price.
When/if you order from Cabelas, there are a few different options for international orders… 1. “all included, straight to your door all taxes paid” or 2. “pay import taxes to courier upon delivery” which is the one I opted for. saved about 30 USD on that option.

That looks good! How high/low can you adjust it ? I mean if the chair you´re sitting is a bit higher than a normal one does it adjust high enough? Also – is the stand panning type or do you need to turn the whole caboodle if you shoot at a bit different angles ?? And how much was it with the freight and all ??? ❓ ❓
EDIT : Never mind – it seems to adjust fairly high and it´s the panning type. So the only question remaining is how much was it incl. the freight to Europe ??

Hmmmmmmmm……
As some of you may have realized, photography is high up on my list of favorite hobbies. I work with biggish Nikon cameras and sometimes long lenses. In my view (I haven’t tried it though), there’s no way the above or the Caldwell rest can be stable enough for serious paper clipping. You’ll need a much more heavy duty tripod and above all a different ball head. Even then sturdiness may not be good enough for serious target shooting……

– and I’m particularly fond of their biggest ballheads. It doesn’t get more stable/sturdy than those……..
Once you have the base in place, – the actual gun stand would fit onto that, – but I have no idea how good it is………
To me both these items above look like toys and they are apparently priced accordingly………
