My First Air Force Order
A bad first impression, Talon SS ordered placed on 04/30/2013 and was told to wait 2 weeks 3 times. I placed order the other night with PA it will be here this Friday, in 3 days !! Don’t think they care very much for the little guy ! Don’t think I’ m ordering anything directly from then ever again. When I cancelled my order there was absolute NO apologies for wasting my time, 6 weeks.

Yep! Once you’re sighted in… shooting 100 rounds is “a good day” in my books.
Well this week end got here so I got to do some crony work done on my new Talon SS 12″ barrel in 22 cal with Sound-Loc. Found my curve that I liked with this settings. Top hat adjusted to .077″ with a 1/4” ID x3/8” OD x 1/16″ W O-ring under it. Fill tank to 2400 psi and power wheel on 3 got JSB 16 grain to top out at 708 fps average, 75 shots later 2000 psi. With a very flat cure with an extreme spread of about 15 fps. Then it starts to slowly drop down after that, an additional 50 shots later down to 1600 psi and JSB 16s traveling at 664 fps. About one and a half turns of the power wheel compensate for the speed lost, but I don’t like to shoot down to 1600 psi. That’s more hand pumping to top off. From 2000-2400 psi is a bearably 100 pumps, down to 1600 psi is an additional 100 pumps for me.

Good point. I plink at 1400psi down to 900psi for 80-100 shots of light 177 wadcutter. That means my 30cuft tank lasts a long time between fills. Airforce is very versatile.
My local Scuba shop charges 10, but I only need them topped off about once a month, unless I’m blasting the 25’s as fast as I can sling them.

Locally the charge $6 to fill a tank to 3100psi.
Last time I checked it was $20 to fill a scuba to 3200 psi, living in paradise comes with a price. The shoe box is probably a good option for me, witch at this time I know very little of.

Hawaii – plenty of SCUBA tanks there – get one – you won’t regret it.
This is my first Air Force gun so I have not to much knowledge about it. The post on this form and googling info about it seems to have info on the older models and I’m unable the figure out what would be good to redo (mods) on this gun. So far The only complaint would be the trigger, it seem rough and springy (kind of toy feel). I do want to wail be for doing anything before the break in period and see all it’s quarks if any more.
The PUMP ? It arrived damage with it”s nano meter smash inwards. Face plate bent on the bottom and the needle shaft center was rubbing the inside of the glass. Other than the it worked, but I took the meter apart and straighten everything out, recalibrate and fixed it. I didn’t what to send it back from Hawaii for a lot of us it would not be worth it, better even just to buy a new one. Caution if you ever have to replace this gauge it cross treads very very easily, don’t ask how I know. I do notice how low this gun can be shoot down to, unlike my other PCP. My FX Revolution shoots down to 150 bar before it needs a refill to 200 bar, about 130 pump with the FX 4 stage pump. The Talon is going to need a lot more pumps to top it off, now the need for a suba tank seems more desirably.
Better yet, use the pump until you are tired of it and then let me know. 😉
Return the pump and get a pre-owned scuba that’s less than 7 years old. They cost about $150. Check your local scuba shop.
Yippie kay yay, here it is ……… New Talon SS with Spin-Loc, Sound Loc and Standard tank.
Grouping is about 1/2 ” @ 50 feet so far with Crosman dome(box), Crosman hunters pointed and Air Arms falcons. So far I love this gun, trigger has a little spring noise hope it smooth out.

I used my pump with an air compressor, 40-50psi and cut pumping time to 1/3.
