Top Hat Clearance again
I don’t mean to be redundant about this subject but doing search and reading, it’s a lot to read !! My FACTORY top hat clearance is .08″ on a standard tank, and I’ve seen others as much as .14″. My concern is the reason for the variation and the need to use different sizes of O-ring behind it, manly the thickness. Know that the adding of is to limit the amount of air wasting. Also other option on the play after cocking and let rest in one of the to side notches has a free play, from the notch to the top hat. I don’t like the idea that it has a play and maybe some of the cause of it’s inconsistency in the speed or the extreme spread. Breech lock in but at different distances away from every time it’s cocking. Some unusually low shot now and then, maybe causes of some flyer to occur also ? Anyone tried to add a spacer of some sort to make up this play, somewhere near or on the bolt notches ? Or maybe magnetic to hold bolt back to hold a consistent contact the top hat ? Understand if I increasing the top hat gap to make contact with the top hat will also increase the air release volume output.
UPDATE: I found the info I needed here : http://talonairgun.com/forum/viewtopic.php?p=230963
