Q:

Condor SS Baffles – End Cap

Had a major clipping issue which caused a pellet to hit the inside of the end cap and broke the washer in half. Randy at R&L was kind enough to send me a new end cap, however in replacing the washer I couldn’t find one made of spring steel, just stainless. In assembling it, I can’t figure out the point of the washer, as the baffles have around an inch of movement inside the factory shroud.

Are the baffles supposed to be able to move? What’s the washer for?

Thanks in advance.

Which stock do you have? Long or short? I’m considering one for my Condor SS and am thinking the ultima long stock. Any pictures?

No problem , drive right to range

I’m available most any nice weekend. I have no pump, only tanks, is this a hike in type of spot?

TreeburnerCT , glad you found the problem ! Hey we need to get together with pete32 and tiger for some shooting with our condors soon ! Lets work on a day that works with everyone . I have a place for us to shoot out doors .

Just spoke to Randy at R&L who informed me that the Condor SS has no spacer in the barrel – the set serew on the bottom between the dovetail holds the baffles. That screw was mostly out when I got it and I didn’t realize what it was for, so now the clipping issue makes perfect sense!

So besides the washer I’m all set – another thanks to Randy for fixing this issue, on a Sunday nonetheless!

There’s no spacer in mine! It’s nice that R&L helps to make things right, but it would be nicer if they were built right from the factory. No wonder so much stuff is made in China – made in America used to be a positive thing.

Let me say again, Randy at R&L has been very helpful throughout the process; I’m pissed off over one gun, but he must not be very happy handling all these issues with brand new guns!

On a lighter note, I got my Maddog Ultima Stock today, gonna put it on tomorrow, shoot my gun baffleless and piss off my neighbors.

make sure you have the spacer in there before the baffles and after the barrel……I had a .177 cal baffle in my .22cal condor ss and it was catching the pellets and throwing them way off,,,i was lucky it didn’t blow my end cap off. r@l sent me a new baffle kit they are top notch people and will do all my business with them.

I got a thicker washer than the stock one and there’s 1.25″ to fill in the tube, with only about .75″ filled by the washer and end cap, leaving a half inch of play.

When i took my endcap off my stainless or metal washer had a little bow to it “arched ” the purpose of that washer with it being a little bowed is so when you put the end cap on it presses on the bowed or arched washer to make everthing fit snug tight .otherwise if washer was completely flat you will have some play in tube where your internal baffles are and would slide very little up and down ever time you lowered and raised your barrel .if washer were flat your baffles would move . hope that helps
