The very best solution to water problems is nitrogen. You could rent a bottle or buy a used nitrogen generator off ebay and feed the shoebox nitrogen. To fix the Shoebox you should look at your first stage compressor and take the output from the pump and run it through metal tubing and a moisture separator before sending the air to the storage tank. Look carefully at the picture of my cart and you will see 40 feet of aluminum tubing coiled under the top shelf. Then it goes into a moisture separator before the tank. Out of the tank, to the Shoebox, I go through a filter / regulator, then a desiccant dryer and finally a sub-micron filter (Motor Guard) before feeding the Shoebox. I saw a tiny bit of moisture, foam, yesterday after charging my 90 cubic inch tank four times. I also use a high pressure filter to feed my guns; homemade, be very careful here!
The first mod to your Shoebox should be a cooling fan. Close off the holes on the left side of the cover and add holes on the right side to allow air flow. Use a 4 or 5 inch fan. There are extra terminals under the motor cover, on the rear, to get 120 vac for the fan.
A quick fill time improvement can be had by just increasing the input pressure to the Shoebox. Try 100 PSI and see how it works but not until you add the fan!

I’m still running the original ShoeBox model and probably should update the pistons at least.
But, moisture has been my biggest problem. I now use 3 of the Harbor Freight in line things but have to bake the BBs every few uses. What have you done for keeping yours dry ❓
What would be a good one step at a time process for upgrading ❓

Only increase supply pressure if you can measure motor current.
Exceeding the FLA rating will result in a cooked motor.
Get a clamp on ammeter and see what your setup does as you i crease the supply all the way to the end of the fill.
