NEW…Neil Clague ,25 Cricket Slide-On Moderator
I called Neil, and asked if he could make me a moderator, 2″ of slide on/grub screw attachment, then 8″ of his best quieting baffles. I wanted 1.5″ OD, just a tad larger than the Cricket shroud.
It arrived today. The fit was snug, I put some silicone grease inside the slide-on, and worked flawlessly. I chose black aluminum to match my black setup. No mods necessary to the Cricket shroud. I can take it on or off in seconds when I need to go from silent to non-existent.
Now the only sound I can hear, after venting the rear of the Cricket shroud, closed cell foam over the hammer/valve interface, and using the Clague Slide-O-Matic, is a muted “thump” from the hammer next to my ear, and the impact/ricochet of the pellet, and in the distance, the muted yell of a neighbor….“What the….Ouch!…hey! I’ve been stung…my ass…my ass!”…
Somewhere, a dog barks twice…it’s twilight, the Whippoorwills begin to sing to each other.
I now know absolutely no one near can hear what I’m doing. I didn’t shoot, I’m not there, there was no sound, it never happened, I don’t exist. A bit later, across the lake, a duck, the self-same duck that shits nightly on my pontoon boat, seems to suddenly backpedal, then silently overturns, in what appeared to be a fatal incident resulting from ingestion of bad corn!
I low crawl back to my hide, and turn on the television.
After my Atlas bipod arrives, I might post a picture of my outfit. But…you must promise to destroy your monitor after you view it. No evidence must remain!

Workmanship is flawless. Fit is within thousandth’s of an inch. It’s milled so close I had to silicone lube it to slide it on. Two tiny grub grub screws, slightly snugged, hold it tight on. It removes in seconds. To install it, you get the moderator started over the front of the shroud, pull your spring loaded fill tube cover up, and slide the moderator down enough to allow easy filling of the gun. A few grub screw turns and it’s on. It can be made shorter, if desired. However, any muzzle blast escaping into Neil’s moderator is muffled only by his moderator. If the Cricket shroud has been vented, there’s not much left to deal with. I chose 10″ OAL to ensure absolute silence.
This is not a piece of eye candy. It can be for looks if you so need it to be. Neil can make it look really sharp. I wanted mine not to reflect light if someone shined a flashlight in my direction…flat black is the answer for me. I’m not concerned what it looks like, I take it off in the daytime. I’m more concerned what it does NOT look like in the dark of night.
This rig is nuisance critter/duck/goose approved! It’s not neighbor friendly…it’s neighbor invisible.
I’ll post a picture later. Just got my arm operated on. Need a few days to recover.
I definitely want one in pink CF. Hopefully he can deliver it with bright yellow feathers glued around the ends. Hey – i´m in near contact with my female side of me and while noiseless i can still be seen…
That sounds like a done deal once the damned Cricket arrives. Me AND my friend Linkan here are having a bit of difficulties with the ****sucker we ordered those Bugs from but it´ll get it sorted out – oh yes, i will ! 👿 :1:
The problem with the shroud is that Neil doesn´t send outside CONUS since shrouds are considered as weapon parts. Mayba a piece of “alum. tubing” is a bit different matter though?
Nevertheless – silence is golden.
I have a mental pic of Uncle H 😯 😯 T crawling in the weeds in search after that militant Duck. Hilarious! 😆
