Edgun Short – 22 R3 – a couple observations

I got this a little while ago and have a couple thoughts. I have not had the opportunity to shoot earlier edguns

1) My gun cocks very smoothly. I know some people have been very vocal about rough cocking problems. I believe these reports, but my gun has no such problem. Its great. I was worried about the aluminum breach but in hindsight my guess is that the material could be responsible.
2) The trigger is good. I have the new design.
3) I would like a sticky but pad.

Shooting side by side with my MFR the edgun is tidy and lighter. The MFR feels awkward, nose heavy and overly long. However, the MFR is easier to shoot accurately. Believe the difference is that the very shortness means the rotational inertia is less which aggravated by a slippy butpad means it bobs around a bit more than the MFR. Shooting at 30yards today I was picking out holes in the target and putting another pellet through them with the MFR. The edgun can do the same thing, but in my shooting positions its harder to get it done. Shooting off a bench would make it much easier to reach the potential of the edgun.

Loading single shot is an area the edgun rules – sneaking a pellet into the breach of the MFR is a pain – I have dropped a few pellets loading the MFR. The regulator on the edgun is also much more efficient. It seems to use about about half the air.
