Pellet Sizer
Dears;
Somebody has posted this in Marauder forum, a pellet sizer that uniform your shots, what is your opinions?
Do you think it benefit someone that uses JSB pellets? since JSB pellets are very uniform!
Personally i will not try to use any other brand except JSB.
Do you think somebody needs this if he owns the Edgun or Cricket?

Please tell more Trygve.. .25 cal Jsb monsters? to my knowledge the 25.4gr lightweight kings are Jsbs only current contrabution to our quarter bores? They do mention on thier website that there will eventually be other weights available though..

I’ve run numerous tests with the JSB Monsters in a variety of cal.22 guns. For some odd reason they do not perform well in any of them. They don’t seem to group well compared to JSB 18grs….
However the JSB Monsters in cal. 25 perform very well indeed and is the best “food” available for the R3 in the same caliber in my opinion……

Indeed it would, and there’s no need for any further resizing………… 😉
Good uniform pellets like JSBs will not benefit from “out-of-gun” resizing. Depending on the resizer, – you may actually run the risk of making the pellet too small…..
Others not so uniform pellets may be shaped/sized a little, – but the effect would be marginal I think………

If a pellet is pushed by the probe into the leade, would that be considered as similar to the action of pellet resizing?

Each gun is different. My 22 Long shot very good groups(golf ball size) at 120yds at 950fps with no wind. 915fps grouped equally well for 1-3mph winds.
It’s shoots measurably better groups at 120yds at 885fps when wind is above 3mph which is majority of time when I hunt.
I shoot my fill of dove(neck shot) from 90-120 with very high rate of success at this speed.
So I set it for there and recommend that speed as a “general” rule for long range accuracy in real world conditions.
If I only shot out to 60-70ish yds I’d crank it up to 950 without a thought for the long version.
There´s something to that. My .22 is most accurate at higher speeds than 880-890. I loose few shots in comparison but i don´t much care since i don´t hunt with it and i´m always near a scuba tube when at the range.
I have read somewhere else that the perfect FPS for JSB 18.13gr is between 900-910 FPS, if i am not wrong Ted Holdover has mentioned this also.
I bought that one for my Edgun 22 last yr. I have shot over 30k pellets through it with half (15k) sized.
The amount of hours spent sizing compared to the very small benefit is not worth it for JSB pellets in my experience.
For other 22 pellet brands in my other 22 it is worth it.
If your looking for optimal benchrest accuracy on every single shot then size and roll test.
The biggest variable is weight. I found as much as a full grain difference.HOWEVER.
Even the in 25m and 50 yd benchrest there was no noticeable difference in scoring as winds were biggest variable.
I shoot of bipod to simulate my hunting style of shooting. A lock down rest may show more of a difference but I still believe it will be so small only the most dedicated experienced competitors might pick up a couple points.
Stretch the 22 JSB out and beyond a 100yds and once again the measureable difference is so rediculously small I personally don’t feel the time spent is worth doing either.
The biggest factor affecting JSB pellet accuracy is FPS. As a general rule the 880 fps range seems top end for stability.
I would agree out of the tins of JSB that I have purchased not a single one has been bad enough to justify purchasing a pellet sizer.
I really feel as though that the only reason to purchase one would be if you were to switch to a company whose quality control was sub par.

You had my hopes up there for a minute Trygve, I was just beginning to think that I had maybe slept through the big launch party of JSBs heavy .25cal pellet.. :party: :18: :8: :11:
Looks like the 25.4gr kings are their intended mid range weight not the light weight? Here’s a quote from their website:
