Q:

Breech knob removal?

OK I must be the only person who cannot remove the cover off the breech knob so I can change out the hammer for my gun is there any tips or tricks to it or is it that I’m just not pulling hard enough on the cover I also plan on changing out the knob or the whole breech later so any help would be great

Thanks for the heads up on that one that will save me some money I was looking at a few all metal ones from the UK

Metal on metal doesn’t work. Yes has to be lubed and silicone grease is not a lubricant.

I have one on a .22 reg gun but I don’t shoot it much and PW is at 0 so there is no load when cocking.

I tried brass and aluminum when I was building my .308. With the heavy hammer springs it just was to hard to cock. Once I went back to Delrin it cocked so much better.

I will use aluminum on my .257 here soon. But the breech does not cock the gun. It is just a open and close to put a slug in.

Good to know thanks for looking out.

Is there a reason why the metal ones don’t work?

is it because it needs to be constantly lubed?

Larger screw driver to break it loose and then use a penny to turn it. I use red loctite when putting it back to keep it from coming loose

Nothing works better than a Delrin breech. You can change the knob but don’t go with a metal breech.

OK scratch that the issue now is there is no screw inside the knob
