Q:

Pepsi Challenge now at 615 yards

I am in Bend, halfway home, going to hang out here wife and my daughter and her BF to celebrate one of my many birthdays that you ass holes have pointed out that I have had. 😛

Were going to be dancing and honky tonking for 3 nights straight.

Shooting conditions were bad due to smoke from forest fires and wind from thunderstorms, but we did get some ideal shooting conditions for one hour or so.

I got a hit on video at 615 yards using the Haley 257 Scandalous and the 84 grain Ideal Spitzer @ 120 FPE @ impact, nothing short of spectacular.

Utube to follow, actually 3 one with the gun info, one with the rangefinder view and of course the shot, which came at shot # 3, anyone know how to combine them and if Utube can be loaded to show it as one video?.

I had a mid point bullet trajectory of 242 inches above the line of sight. Judging by the bullet behavior, extreme high and low shots with regulated velocity at 640 yards and further with sorted bullets, +or- .1 grain, it would seem that with the platform I have, which is going on the threshold of sonic, I have reached my limit of range. Those height variations in the past have meant that the bullet is starting to wobble, lowering the BC and making shots hit low. I noticed this with the 80 and 100 grain NOE, the Ideal fared better, but not by much past 640 yards.

But none the less the Pespi Challenge has hit 615 yards.

the ancient one,

Most shooters could not hit that can at that range with anything, much less an air rifle! You Rock Man! :8:

Now 6 football fields, if a guy kicked the ball that far it would literally disappear, Roach I am going to let you win the pepsi challenge, matter in fact I would not even try, are you far sighted too? Amazing, pure and simple, and a airgun, if someone would say they were going to do this 10 years ago, I would have said with what and in your dreams. A big hand for you and Congratulations!!

LOL. ME EITHER! The same as a gnat’s calf muscle….. 😀 😆

Cedric,

At 600 yards with the unaided eye, to me it does not look like anything.

Soooo happy for you Sir. CONGRATS on making THIS moment.

Honestly, people trully don’t understand how far that is and how small that can is at that range. A coke can is about 2.5″x4.5″ while in front of your face. At 400 yards away, it looks like a GNAT sitting on your kitchen counter about 6 feet away from you. At 600 yards, it probably looks like that same gnats calf muscle…..lol!

FUUUUUUUUUUCKING WOW!
