Q:

Parallax Setting on Nikon Scope

I am considering a Nikon scope that lists parallax setting of 50 yds to infinity. What impact does this have if the target is closer, say 30 yds?

Thanks.

The Hawke Varmint looks interesting. Any recommendations based on your experience? Thanks!

You can get scopes that adjust down to 10 yards and there is at least one type that will adjust down to 3 yards.

Yep! 😉

Thanks. So as I understand it, if I got a scope with parallax adjustment down to ~30 yds, having my eye dead center would not be as critical. I’m looking for a nice scope with approx 16X power for 30 yd shots. My current scope is a 4-16X Centerpoint – the image softens up quite a bit at 16X, and it gets much worse near the edges.

You will be able to use the scope at closer range but you will have to lower the power, and make sure your eye is dead centere in the scope to keep the parallax at bay.
