Oldgoat, thanks for yours support but I think that Synopsys have right.
Maybe I must swimm without made big waves.
LW .308 from Gunspares UK it is not the best option but it is a good and afordable option for me.
Not as good at .257 for long range but I hope good enought for 100-150 meters with 120-140 grains

Lots of laws can be passed in two years. Jerry would need a similar type of export license to send his slugs overseas. While you might get away with it (by falling through the cracks), you also might not get away with it.

It sounds like they are ending the freedom to export/import of anything related to “guns” unless you pay a pretty steep fee.

You may want to check the laws again.

While I was typing this reply, I went back and read your original post. Do you need a .750’ OD barrel? If so, TJ, Track of the Wolf and R&L won’t be able to help you. They all use TJ barrels and they all are under .500”.

Before I learned about the TJ liners, I called and talked to ALL of the high dollar US custom barrel makers. Hart was the only operation that would turn one of their air gauged and hand lapped 28” long .257” barrels down to the .480” OD that I needed for it to fit on my Matador.

The other “custom” barrel makers either weren’t able to or, way more likely, just didn’t want to take the extra time and effort to turn a barrel down for me.

Hart didn’t charge me a penny more for turning the OD down to .480”! They said that ALL of their barrels are custom made to order and that if I needed a custom one that is .480” OD, they didn’t have a problem doing that. My 4, .480” OD Hart barrels cost $335 each shipped. I have a 24” long .224, a 24” long .257”, a 26” long .257’ and a 28” long .257”

Killergueen, I saw your link to the Shilen site, I tried to buy a .480” OD barrel from them; no luck there. I got the same response from Lilja.

Shilen’s website states that their barrels have won more bench rest trophies than any other barrel maker. I would guess that it would be a toss up between Shilen, Lilja and Hart as to what maker has the most trophies.

It would also be a toss up between the Shilen, Lilja and Hart fans as to who makes the best barrel.

I like Hart because they are happy to work with me and they are easy to work with! I don’t like the 3 month wait but, it seems like overnight compared to the 9 month Edgun wait!

As far as having a barrel shipped to you from the US, around 2 years ago, I sent a new FX 25 cal Smooth Twist to a buddy in the UAE. Before I did: I made damn sure that I wasn’t violating any Home Land Security laws/guidelines and other government agencies before doing so.

I talked to a LOT of different US agencies and they all gave me the impression that I was being somewhat stupid to even worry about sending an air gun barrel to someone overseas! I’m like, OK, I want to send this air gun barrel to a air gun buddy that lives in the Middle East and I don’t want my phone tapped, my emails read, have a camera van down the street, have black helicopters flying overhead and have guys in black 3 piece suits wearing shades knocking on my door!

They ALL told me that it wasn’t going to happen so: I guessed that I could trust my government’s word and I shipped the barrel. 2 years later, I am still free, haven’t heard from anyone and I haven’t even been charged with anything: yet!

Gabi, It sounds like you need to send the LW barrel back for a refund. They don’t shoot that great to begin with and it is going to cost you a lot to have it turned down CORRECTLY. Whoever you have do the work could very easily screw it up.

I have seen some negative posts about the R&L barrels; supposedly, he has TJ put a choke on all of the barrels that he orders. If that is true, you don’t want a R&L barrel if you want to shoot cast bullets out of it. If you slug your barrel and then cast slightly oversized bullets and then resize them to fit the barrel, you don’t want a choke.

If you could come up with a TJ barrel, you would still have to have it fitted for your gun.

If you would like to have a TJ barrel, send me a PM and I think that we could work something out. It is yours for what it costs me plus shipping.

PS:

Just don’t let the US government know what I am doing!

you right.
I will send an email.
thank you

Did i mentioned anything about Midwayuk.com?They don’t even sell barrels anymore.
Try http://www.midwaydeutschland.de …Go to AGB(left corner at the bottom of the home page)and read “Ziffer 10”.

http://www.midwayuk.com/epages/Midway_UK.sf/en_GB/?ObjectPath=/Shops/Midway_UK/Categories/TermsAndConditions
please read ,,international orders,,
maybe midway deutschland will make international shiping.

Give me what you read.

I read on the site

quote gabi.nechita:

Hi Killerqueen33
I think Midway dont ship out of country.

How did you know that?Did you contacted them?

Hi Killerqueen33
Did you bought it directly from Midway Germany or somebody else from Germany bought it for you and after he send it to you?
I think Midway dont ship out of country.

That’s a shame. Didn’t know that!

quote Marc:

Track of the wolf sells tj liners. They ship to Europe.

I found this to the “Track of the wolf” site mentioning this message about barrels…“Not for Export. Until recently, we supplied the best barrel liners to refresh the bores of antique rifles worldwide. Homeland Security now requires a $2,400.00 license, plus a $300.00 permit (per order). Sorry, we can no longer afford to export barrel liners. We ship to any U.S. address!”

No dealer in Europe as far as i know.

Try this please…i guaranty their quality even if they are a little bit spicy concerning Tj’s prices.
This is chrome moly…Stainless steel one are more expensive but they are professionally hand lapped (do not need firelapping)and last for a lifetime.
Not even a word about Lilja’s.The best is the best but you have to be drunk before pay for them.. 😀
My last purchase from them was a Douglas 8mm barrel and i m very pleased about it….Maybe because i found a truly accurate caliber for my rifle but i heard people say that they are superb according their quality and performance too.

Thanks for advice Marc.
It will be more easy for me if I will find a dealer in Europe.

Track of the wolf sells tj liners. They ship to Europe. Just ask them to mark the package package as precision tubing. Profiling a blank is not something for a novice. Once you get around 22mm chatter is going to be a problem. If you are turning a blank between centres make sure you use lots of cooling. A long barrel will lengthen and will flex between the centres. But while turning you do get a straight barrel. That’s how the bore gets off Centre. .

I think I will order some .257 barrel from RL airgun supply if they want to sell me blank barrel and not condor machined barrel.
