Q:

Talon String Shot with Standar Tank for .177 and 25 barrel

Hello
I have an old Talon in .177 with the standar tank
The last week i bought a 24″ barrel in .25 and i put it
I begin to shot from down power to high. In power 2 it give 620 fps with JSB 25,4 grains,
In power 10, i obtain the best results, i can get almost 40 shots , the mwdia was 841 fts with the JSB King 25,4 grains
My results are:

Shot JSB King FPE
1 865 42,0
2 890 44,5
3 911 46,6
4 899 45,4
5 871 42,6
6 861 41,7
7 861 41,7
8 857 41,3
9 850 40,6
10 854 41,0
11 858 41,4
12 881 43,6
13 814 37,2
14 865 42,0
15 839 39,6
16 845 40,1
17 842 39,8
18 845 40,1
19 839 39,6
20 838 39,5
21 835 39,2
22 835 39,2
23 835 39,2
24 837 39,4
25 832 38,9
26 825 38,2
27 825 38,2
28 827 38,4
29 826 38,3
30 838 39,5
31 826 38,3
32 838 39,5
33 818 37,6
34 819 37,7
35 814 37,2
36 813 37,1
37 810 36,9
38 814 37,2
39 810 36,9
40 808 36,7

Velocity graph

On the other hand i test JSB King, BEnjamin and Skenco 31 grains
But i canΒ΄t get groups with Benjamin pellets (it spread like a shotgun, almost 20″ at 40 yards)

With JSB at 40 yards half inch groups are doable

and other group show a vertical Shift (may be influenced by the speed)

And the skenco, demostrated are good pellets in this barrel

But now i Have many questions
I think that a 500cc air tank can get more shots at 41 fpe… It is possible?

1. What i can do, IΒ΄m looking air efficency…
2. If I use the standar Tank for .22 (not for .177) i can get more shoots? or i can get more power?
3. If i put a hammer with more weight, or a heavier Spring, can i get more shots in the lower power but gettin 41 fpe?

thanks

Hello,
Today i tried the same standar tank with 18″ barrel, but in .22

Power Setting 10, Crosman pellet 14,3 grains
I try to compare the standar rifle with standar striker, and the standar striker PLUS striker Weight (see link)

http://www.pyramydair.com/s/a/AirForce_Striker_Weight/4038

Standar strike weight 48,5 grams + the striker weight 18,9 = 67,4 grams

Conlusion, add more weight to striker with a light pellet, only increase the air consumption.

Hi maw ,
Shoots well at 23 mtrs. Poi was 1″ low at 23 mtrs.
Shot with the talon fixed on a wooden clamp.

I’ve tried the round nose ones and they just shot where-ever they pleased with my Talon, do the pointed ones shoot good at 30 yrds.?

Will try after barrel lapping.

Hello i tested my talon with heavy pellets like EunJin (16grains) skenco (16grains) And Barracuda heavy magnum
I shoot more than two thousands pellets without any problems (no tank dump)
Now since i install the .25 barrel, i have fired almost 1000 jsb kings without any failure :4:

Did you do any lapping in your.177 barrel.

I am trying in mine.

Eunjin aka Samyang POINTED heavy.

I don’t think that should happpen, but then I have never heard off- 19 Eun Jins, in 177, only 16 grain.

MK, the spring in the 177 tank slightly stronger then one in 20 22 25,, we are talking about the valve spring, the reason for this is so the air is reduced to the smaller 177 chamber, for to much air or back pressure in the chamber can cause tank dump.

Does a new Talon .177 without any modification also dump on shooting .177 Eunjin 19grn.

mk

OK, neither one of you gets the problem here, so lets look at from a more known direction. (engage common sense here).Say your shooting a .45 ACP. Every thing works just fine. Now you jury rig a way to take away the .45 hull, and replace it with a .22 lr hull and powder. Will it work? Hell no! The smaller charge, and dia. of the hull is far too small in dia. One result is the friction of the bullet, and the area of the barel is going to over come the power charge of the .22 hull and the swept area of the barrel. is going to negate what pressusre it does generate. (Yeah, I know the bullet would never leave the barrel. But it helps to look at the extreems of both trains of thought to understand where it is going(.

Results, terrigle velocity swings, no consistiency, and in the case of a AF gun, TANK DUMP!!!
You have ask, and answers given, yet you ignore the answers. Duh! Listen up!

Put the right valve for the cal. in the gun already. Get it? If not, no one can help you. πŸ™„ Theres a sign for that. πŸ˜† :3:

😯 πŸ™„ 😯

Definitely a big bore and very highflo valve post πŸ™‚
But to be honestly frank I don’t see anything in the post that should make you shirtless. People will surely take your advice seriously, atleast I do. But don’t you think your post was too brusque and uncalled for.
It is unfortunate such expression of mental turmoil should come up in the open forum. For a human will not hum a song which she / he had never heard before.
Even more unfortunate it has come from a senior member who has 4935 post to his credit.
Such posts seldom lead to any logical end rather soil the forum with attacks and counter attacks.
Believe me there are more number of good people in this world.
Still I look forward to learn more of pcp from this forum.

Sorry, i reposted, and got this response in the wrong thread! 😳

Hmmmm: You have several problems; all at the same time, it seems.. what do you Really want/need? High power==you need to mod to condor specs. More even shot string=put in a regulator. Accuracy=condition the barrel.. either by shooting 10,000 pellets thru it; or, by Gently polishing the inside if the barrel from the breech end [rear, where pellet is inserted.] By gently; meaning, No rough stuff like valve grinding compound! lol THAT Would wear it out=quickly! Auto body finish compound/jewelers rouge/just polish it inside. I use some tough but soft paper towels pieces wrapped around a brass wire brush [that came with the barrel cleaning kit] be sure to let the paper/polish coated brush rotate following the barrel lands…!

Knifemaker is youre post directed at mkfs or the op? I dont see where mkfs said he changed anything yet but was planning to and he is getting dumps from his .177 talon using eunjin 19gr. So if it is his .177 dumping doesnt he already have the correct valve in his gun? I dont see a post from the op stating any problems with dumps or any problems at all and just asked advice for getting more shots. So i am a little confused about you attacking either of them unless mkfs is not talking about his .177 having the problems with tank dumps.
