New members and questions about safety of PCP
Hi all! Sorry for my english not very good, I used “Google Translate” to communicate to you.
I have one question about the safety of PCP (Edgun, cricket, condor …). Pressure safe use of edgun, condor is 3000psi, Cricket is 4250 psi. So the biggest pressure (an explosion) What is the PSI pressure ?!
materials used to produce our tanks are AA 6061 or AA 7075 or Titan?!
DESIGN LIFE airtank of PCP is 5 years, 10 years or 15 years
I started using PCP airguns should frighten, please, answer the question of me.
thanks all.

True enough!!!
“The pensioner was charged with the offence after he was spotted removing his shorts and pleasuring himself at the water’s edge on a beach in Stockholm in June.
However this week, the man was acquitted after Södertörn District Court ruled that though he was publicly masturbating, he was not directing his actions at anyone in particular, according to The Local’s translation of Swedish newspaper Mitti.
“With that [ruling],” public prosecutor Olof Vrethammar told the paper, “we can conclude that it is OK to masturbate on the beach… [although] the act may be considered to be disorderly conduct.”
Apparently the key is NOT to point the end with the hole in it, at anyone’s eyes! In my case…that’s not a problem, although I could certainly ruin someone’s shoe with a little effort!
Kind regards,

I just read you can now polish your barrel in public (even on the beach) in Sweden. 😆 And I thought those were jellyfish.
But of course it is…sort of. It was in 2011 “Mr. Gay Finland” and i didn´t stuff that pesky pencil in my Speedo´s. I was wearing a Mankini.. In pinkish hue. 😎
CoMan.. . Is it true Sir Ville won the prestgious 2001 “Mr. Gay Finland” contest, before he was disqualified for stuffing a number 2 pencil in his swim trunks?
Hi!
That 5 years hydro test cycle is not international standard. There seems to be variation between countries.
Here in Finland pressure containers must be tested in 10 year cycle. I don’t know is that Europian rule or just local.
So who knows Cambodian rules? I don’t.

As a retired scuba instructor, I know the hydro test for scuba tanks is 5/3rds of rated max pressure. So a 3000 psi tank will be hydro tested to around 5000 psi.
Hope this helps.

Hoot, thank you very much!
Wish you happiness always my friend.

Air cylinder material probably depends on the maker. Most likely high strength aluminum and steel are used. A titanium air cylinder is expensive and unnecessary. Some custom builders, and very high end pcp guns may have it, but there is no real need.

Clean dry air as Hoot said. Get a scuba tank and have it filled at a dive shop. That’s the best qualit you will find. Have your scuba tank visual inspected every year and tested every five years.
You generally never need the full 3000 psi, find what your gun prefers and save some air and money 🙂
Ssshooter,thank you very much!
My question about the air cylinder, (cricket, edgun, condor) TEST PRESSURE (400 bar?), MIN. PRESS BURST. (700 bar?)!
aluminum material production is 6061, or 7075, or titanium?!

Cali.
Cylinders more than 2″ in diameter need to be hydro tested every 5 years. They should last 15-20 years easy.

Fill your air cylinder no more than the maker maximum recommended pressure. 3000 psi/200 BAR is usually the maximum. Cricket says more, but Cricket users say highest pressure wastes air.
Check your air cylinder for rust, dents, deep scratches to the air cylinder surface. If it is damaged, replace the air cylinder.
Always store your pcp with filled with some air pressure to prevent rust inside the air cylinder.
Only use clean DRY air from a trusted source. Wet air is very dangerous to fill a pcp airgun.
A scuba shop can tell you where to get an air cylinder pressure tested after several years of use. It does not cost much.
Avoid petroleum oil. Use silicone grease to lubricate.
I’ve never heard of a pcp airgun exploding!

I ask questions about the life of air cylinder, its design life is 5 years, 10 years, or 15 years. Time used to replace the air cylinder?
My native language is Cambodia.
thanks all.
(sorry english is not my native language. 😳 🙄 )

Don’t worry so much! Enjoy your sport. Use common sense.

I bow for Uncle’s infinite wisdom once again. I beg to differ though: Public masturbation, whether in Södertörn or Malmö is kinda pointless if you can’t point the one-eyed Finnish constrictor at anyones direction. What’s so public about that, i ask??
