127 grain RCBS 257
I have been on a mold buying kick this month, I have bought a 80 and 100 grain spitzer, a 94 grain RN, a 240 grain Maxiball and this 125 grain RCBS that cast out at 127 of 20-1.
On the latter all I can say is wow! Never have I had a mold cast a bullet that shoots like this one does.
I cast about 50 up this morning before the wrinkles left and I got so-so bullets. I cast and sized 50 more, did not weigh for sorting, only to get the weight of the bullet from 20-1 which was 127 grains, when I sized them they seemed to offer little resistence int he sizer.
I checked Handloads.com to see what I would have to use for holdover with a zero for the 94 grain Ideal round nose, hooked up the air and shot to see where they would land on the plate.
I hit 4 MOA low, so I held on the spot and fired 5 more 4 went into a single mar on the steel, so I fired two more which went into the same mar.
I then shot the gong a bit, and decided I would hook for up the Chrony which was in the house to keep it dry. It gave me a high of 958 FPS/259 FPE, on the 5 shots I shot over the chrony, they again did the single small smear on the steel at 300 yards where it is hitting just under 200 fPE.
I was shooting at 3600 PSI with the 1-10 twist barrel.
This bullet is long, a 257420 HP is shown for comparison.
5 out of 6 shots 300 yards
