Just ordered a new Condor SS
Man !, I just ordered another AirForce Airgun. I already own a Talon SS in 22 and have a 177 barrel for it. Love this gun, once you start shooting it’s very hard to put it down, it is very quiet, extremely customizable, accurate, compact and light in weight. The new Condor SS I ordered will be fitted in with a 25 cal barrel. Out of box it should be putting out about 950 f/p/s in 25 cal with 25.4 grain pellets with a whopping 51 foot pounds at the muzzle. Along with the gun I ordered a Hawke Sport Optics 6.5-20×42 AO Sidewinder Tactical Rifle Scope with BLK scope mounts. It should arrive in about a week or so ……………….

Hmm…I’m still tinkering with mine. I only have about 300rnds through it. I was like you, with TTTH and no insert I was real hot at 1050 and the JSB King 25.4s. With the large insert I was getting 906-911 with a 2800 fill. My lovely wife is going to get me a regulator and tank for xmas and then I will try again with no insert.
I’m still deciding what tank and regulator for her to get me. 🙂
I tried TT top hat (Quick Change Top Hat) with no o ring installed behind, but it seems on my tank fill to 2800 psi to be about 100 f/p/s lower than usual (~840 f/p/s max @ pw 10.0), with the large insert. I just couldn’t get it to go above 900 fps.
With no insert it was way to hi, in the +1,000 fps ranges.
I was thought of drilling out the small insert to a size a bit larger then largest insert, knowing that I wouldn’t use it too small.
I ended up going back and using the OEM top hat and once I found where I wanted it. I blue loctite the two grub screws and dripped loctite into the top hat treads also. I used a tooth pick and feed a little it in right on the gun and let it dry overnight.
To do fine adjustments latter you need the remove the top hat and loosen the two grub screws and insert a small round rod placed into the value opening to hold it from spinning. Use the grub screw allen wrench into the screw and turn (adjust) the top hat or just use a plier.

Did you find that working with the stock top hat gave better results than the tt one piece?

My adjustments to the Mode Average 918 fps:
Looked and compared the accuracy of my Condor and crony work with the JSB Kings. The Kings shot though my gun seem to have the most accuracy at 902-918fps a spread of 18 fps to adjust the gun to this Mode Average of 918 fps . If I sacrifice 10 shots count to 30 and adjusted the power wheel down from 3/0 to 2/14 and fill to 2700psi to this sweet spot 902-918fps the gun is extremely accurate.

I have been searching and reading a lot on top hat clearance and Mac1 tuning also. I like to take this time in thanking Powderburner , and the many other experienced tuners that posted the info I needed in my quest in achieving all bulls ! Even though I didn’t corresponded to them here they made for some very cool reads: airgunsoftulsa , Mrnewbie , randy_6 , synopsys, Hoot and WalkonKing .
I fine tuned my top hat to .088″ and used a o ring (1/4” ID x3/8”ODx1/16″ T) behind it and fill to 2800psi and set the power wheel on 3/0.
The shot string had two peaks at 920fps,
@2800psi started at 896fps and slow climbed to 920fps 14 shot later
@2550psi dropping to 894fps 13 shots later
@2350psi slow climbed again to 921fps 13 shots later
@2100psi dropping to 897fps.
For a total of 40 shots, from 897- 921fps that is and extreme spread of 24fps.
The trigger work was keep to a minimum. I didn’t remove any of the pins to lube with my Moly mixture to all pivots and shear contact points. There is a definite difference in the feel and pull, smoother and lighter about 4-5 oz. less. Redid the shooting in the above ranges again to see if it improved my groupings. At 50 yards the grouping improved to .25″ ctc, 75 yards .45″ ctc and at 100 yards .67″ ctc , from 900-920fps.
I increased the power wheel and new fill to 2800psi and tried for 950fps at that speed the grouping at 100 yards open up to 1.25″ ctc so 950fps is to hot for now. Back to the above settings.
A interesting trigger mod http://talonairgun.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=132 . I don’t practically like a long 1st stage and to much over travel after the break, on my back burner for now.
All in all I’m very happy with this Condor SS it the tuning worked out great and only the future can tell me what is in store next for this Rat blaster!!
In all my years of Airgunning (45) I finally got myself to buy 2 AirForce guns this year and my only wish I had gotten into them earlier. A Modifiers Tuners Dreamers delight !

Well I looked over and checked the crony work on the above targets above. The speed seem to be causing a little spiraling out at 75 yards, I try and increase it to 950 fps again this weekend, to see if it helps tighten up @ 75.
The other things I need to look at this weekend is the triggers pull and over travel, it seems to be a little heavy for my liking also and could also be a contributing factors in my grouping size. May need a little mix of Moly and motor oil to the contact points, minimum work first and I’ll see if that helps.

I did a little crown work just shine on a 11º angle with this http://www.borkatools.com/. Happy I could take off of work today and do some much needed crony work on my new Condor. I like to check each shot wail crony is in place. The number don’t mean to much without the accuracy to boot. After three attempts this is my best for today. This gun likes it on the hotter side ~960, but settled on 920-890 f/p/s to help lower the noise. On the lower side ~830 it starts to go crazy, small shot gun blast pattern to the right.
The tank is fill to 2800 psi and the factory top hat is set to .09″- about 1/8 turn down, with a o ring (1/4” ID x3/8”ODx1/16″ T) behind it. The power wheel is set to 3/0. Five shots on each target, the 4th target to the right is a sight in for mill dot estimation I used in 50, 75 and 100 yards. I did not run ChairGun Pro yet until I know the speed this gun likes. At that time I will also check the velocities at each of theses yardages to see if there is any correlation with other settings later.

So far, I polished the inside of the gun frame (what a chore), cleaned and wax inside no lube used. Added 2 additional spring silencers with shrink tubing on each side of to hold in place and act as plastic slides in contact with the inside of the frame (I strategically picked the portions on the spring that shown sign of ware, the shiny spots). One of the bushing set screw was loose, blue lock-tite all screws. Vertical screws tighten first and side screw tighten just to hold screws in place. Check the crown with a Q-tip it’s okay. The crony results are kind of strange, seem to have no curve yet just a steady decline in f/p/s. The extreme spread is very low. I need to play with the top hat clearance (@.093″ factory) a bit more this week end.
Got the New Wokbutt today (Thanks Tony !) it looks and fits great ! I used blue lock-tite on the pivot hex screw and tighten just enough so with effort it can be rotated if needed. Moved my scope back about .5″ to comp for the added length and it put the Hawke logo on the side wheel in center with the breech knob.
I luck out on the scope installation, check the scope for optical center. Calculated and added the shim I needed to zero @ 55 yards. When I shot to zero it took only 3-5 click in windage and elevation to zero in. To have been that close, is a first for me !
The optical centering jig below (old pic) I temporarily mount a laser on the center of this jig with a piece of duck seal. This is to aid in having to find something to aim at, and the need of not have to clap this jig down. The jig and laser becomes one device. I tried the mirror way with poor results, not as accurate.

.177 Caliber requires a stronger valve return spring to work properly

I never when the adding a regulator route.
Spending more, could save up to get a gun with it in already ?
