cricket project started
ok guys,back from germany with my new cricket,
first of all ive got all the crap out of the barrel,and then painstakingly polished the bore,firstly with solvol autosol ,then finished it with flitz,,ive adjusted the trigger to my liking.
next will be some work on the hammer,a PEEK hammer pip will be installed on the front of the hammer,which will cut down a lot of noise,ptfe spring guides will be fitted,and depending on the wall thickness of the hammer ,it will be running on ptfe studs,and then if i REALLY LIKE THE GUN a custom cf silencer/shroud,i will go and shoot it a little later this week

The LW barrels are cut I believe and can really benefit from polishing. Cold hammer forged is another matter. I would not think that would have much effect on the stock CZ Cricket barrels made with a smooth mandrel.
First of all, i run a couple of dry patches through the barrel
Then wet patches with butches bore shine and then dry patches, till everything
clean,
Then with a spear tipped jag and 22cal patches, civered with solvol autosol work up and down the bore a few times, then clean the bore again with wet-dry patches, then repeat with solvol, i do this about15 times, then finish of with flitz, on the patches a few times
Then clean with wet dry patches,
I removed the barrel frim the gun for this operation and held it in a vice , just remember ti remove the o ring from inside the barrel,, even well used guns can benefit from the above process

i work from the breech end,my cricket barrel is quite heavily choked,and the best thing you can do with choke ,is cut t of and re face and re crown,makes them much more pellet friendly!!

I am Sir Ville’s bastard nephew, once removed, who was sent to America as an infant, due to the embarrassment which my birth brought upon his family.
I am very curious as to the information for the above items marked bold and in italics. I am unaware of their use in air guns and would really appreciate a bit of education from you regarding what they do, where they are obtained, how they are installed, and how much they cost.
I am currently working my way through the Waste Water Treatment Academy in Arkansas, USA, on a scholarship for ex-patriot Finnish “Moroons”, which I believe is a Finnish word for educable mentally challenged individuals.
I hope to get my license in December, and will start my career in Waste Water Treatment, specializing in the bacterial treatment/breakdown of human waste into potable water, which we sell to a local bottled water plant for retail sale. My position will pay really well, but it should…the job stinks, and promotion opportunities are shitty!
Thank you for your help in this matter. If you wish, I can send you a very nice waste water “before” and “after” treatment sample, containing genuine solid human waste, in display quality jars. These sit in a nice beech holder, properly engraved with your name, and are suitable for display on your mantle, or coffee table. Very educational, and I can send you a sample packet of the bacteria we use to break down the solid waste to a crystal clear drinkable liquid!

No they are all inferior to Crickets. 😆 😆 😆 Edguns (R3s) are already polished at the LW factory Ed mentioned in prior posts. Air Arms are standard LW barrels and would probably help but only if done correctly. You can also wreck the barrel if done incorrectly. 😥
Is this something that airguns other than crikets would benefit from? Such as Edguns, AirArms?

Thanks. I used to polish and lap pb competition rifle barrels but I wasnt sure how hard these airgun barrels really are. I think what your using is light/mild enough not be a problem although I worry about the chokes. Do you go from the breech end?

a lot of shit !! a lot of red stuff came out after a few patches,if i didnt know any better i would say it was actually rust!!!,i believe sir villes barrel was full of crap also,i used to build quite a few high power rapid 7s fitting them with 23 in lothar walther barrels,i ALWAYS POLISH new barrels on average you can get around 50fps more against an unpolished barrel,and it really does help with accuracy

I am curious as to what was in the barrel because I always clean mine as they arrive in case there are metal chips, etc..

hi hoot,first of all im sorry to hear you are related to sir ville!!
PEEK is a very hard plastic similar to delrin,it cuts down on hammer noise hitting the valve,,PTFE is again similar to delrin,except its a self lubricating plasticwhat were going to do is cut down on metal to metal contact for quietness and to make the hammer trvel very smooth and quick and quiet,i will take pics and try and post them as this project unfolds
