Q:

Few weeks into Condor SS!

Hello all,

I am newly entered into the world of pcp air rifling and can already tell this is something i shouldnt have gotten into 😉

I have been shooting my condor playing with the power wheel and the fill pressure to get the most accurate shot pattern. Currently I have found that un-regulated on my gun PW 4-4 with a fill pressure of 2200-1950 i am same hole grouping at 35 yards with kodiak 21.14. With the same setting and air arms field heavy pellets the accuracy is not so good. I reckon this is the shot speet with the lighter pellet creating this difference because when the pressure drops to 1600 down to around 1000 i am getting dime sized grouping at forty yards with these pellets. I understand that i need a chrony to do any real testing and to figure out my guns sweet spot. I am ordering jsb exact heavy tonight to see how differently those pellets shoot at the further distances. Out to 35 yards any pellet that i have ran through this gun is creating 1/2 groupings with any outliers having me to blame for. I am still getting used to shooting this gun, whereas it is extremely hard to get a good consisitence cheek weld without a tri rail raise! None the less I am still satisfied. I have noticed though that the gun is inconsistent at further distance say 75 to 100 yards. At 90-100 yards shots create a scatter pattern in all directions. This is most likely due to my unfamiliartiy with the gun and still playing with fill pressures and power wheels. so enough said, sorry! But i am looking for more consistancy without hooking a regulator to my gun, I was looking into the TT top hat and wondering if that would fix some of my inconsistancy issues at the longer distances and also need to know where to get one of those sweet tri rails raisers that fits the condor frame because my scope height is a very big issue myself being a rather tall person!

Thanks for listening, I have been reading on this forum for about a month now and decided it was time to dig in and meet some of the great informateers that have helped me out so far!

Yeah man! I’m super happy with it! I’m just looking for more accuracy at further distances, i wanna try an see this guns limits. I have 800 kodiaks coming today so I’ll be doing some more testing :4: . But with regards to the power setting, I think the condor is too powerful for even the 21 grain pellets to shoot at high power levels on a full fill. The pellets are just flying too fast I think it causes then to open up. Definately try starting with you power level on zero shoot 5 shots at 3000. Than shoot another 5 where you left off shooting down from 3k maybe 2700 or so. And continue that until you shoot down around 1000. See where your best group was at what pressure and mark it. Than do the same thing at each power level going up by one. I didn’t go anywhere over 6 on the pw and found that 4 gave me the same accuracy as 6 but allowed for more shots. I really need a chrony but I figure I’m doing decent enough testing without shelling out that extra money. Make sure you being a notepad and a pen! Don’t guess to try and remember where your best grouping was at on full pressure and powerwheel.

.25″ groups at 50 yards with everything stock is pretty good in my book – I’d be happy with that.
I am going to try your settings of 4-4 and 2250 with the Kodiaks.
I have my pw @ 8 starting around 2800psi.
Going out of town on business for a few days, so won’t know how this works for me till later this week.

Yeah definately takes practice I’m shooting outside and have a best .25 inch group at 50 yrds now. IM gonna order the tt tophat and try to get accuracy even better. My gun shoots the kodiak a much better than the lighter jsbs, in fact it shoots the kodiak a over any pellet I’ve tried. I’ve tried about 8 or so.I’m using kodiak 21.14 pw 4-4 no top head movement everything stock from factory. Accuracy is best when I fill 2250 and shoot down to around 1600. But I have found that where I have it dialed to as of stock right now if I miss it wasn’t because of the gun.

I’m having same issue. (BTW – I am an ANT as well (A Newbie Too)

I have .22 condor ss out of box, no mods, 300 rounds through the gun.
I can put JSB, Kodiaks, & AirArms through the same hole at 30 yards.
But when I push the target to 50 yards, with no other changes to gun settings, it scatters to 2″.
Is this the best I can get without shelling more $$ for mods, or is it just my shooting ability?
And I’m ok if it really is me, because I can correct that with practice and time.

Im not sure what they have to offer but Ive heard guys talk of Maddog stocks. Give Tony at Talon Tunes a call, Im confident he will have a fix for all your needs. My foregrip is the one thing I havent touched on my SS since I use my bipod from a rest normally.

I like the new wokgard just noticed it on tt. What about the fore grip though where can I replace that

Yeah like crac is right. I love hunting shooting and anything about the outdoors so when I can take this thing down to the end of the street and shoot for four hours and have no one bother me it makes it even worse. I’ll have to check out his stuff I liked the wokbut I had saw it before. The wokgard 15 looks like a way easier fix than me making a stock at least for short term. I want to get the tri rail but it’s out of stock, so just waiting for that. How much height will the rail raise my scope by?

Talk to Tony at Talon Tunes. His adj TopHat is great and look at his Tank Adapter. Im 6’3″ and it dropped the tank enough to make shooting comfortable. I got my triRail from Pyramid Air. Also speak to Adam Vigil his Wok But and his Grip adapter are great. The WokBut shoulders beautiful and is adj and his grip adapter lets you put on an AR15 grip of your choosing. Adam is a moderator on this site “Walkonking”
As for the stock you want to make, Airgunner1966 on youtube has a couple vids about his that he made.

Welcome to the forum and the world of airguns (more addictive than crack)

Yeah my neck is so sore right now. I shot around 500 shots the other day in 4-5 hours and I know that scope needs to be on a rise cause the cheek weld I have to use is almost like eating a taco.

But yeah I know what you mean with the grip and the trigger. Im 6’4” and if i want to use the back of my finger tip I am barely gripping the gun or my hand is way off to the side. I want to make my own stock for the gun to help with this frame flex ive been reading about. Either way it will help my accuracy if I am more comfortable.

Glad you’ve joined in the conversation. Welcome.

I know what you are talking about with the Condor. I’m only 6’1″ and find the ergonomics difficult also. My biggest issue is with the distance from the pistol grip to the trigger. They must have figured the distance for a 5′ person’s hands. I have to use the knuckle crease to pull the trigger as my finger tip is way too far away.

It sounds like your accuracy is good and that goes a long way towards satisfaction. Keep it up and let us know how you are progressing.

Duane
