Q:

Loose top hat

Every 20 shots or so my top hat gets loose.
I tighten up the two set screws and it happens again.
I’ve read not to over tighten those two screws, so I am hesitant to crank them down.
Should I be using lock tite on the screw threads?
Any suggestions are appreciated.
Thanks
Mike

use lock tight or buy one of tonys one piece tophats

I agree with KM. When I got my Condor SS, first thing I Did was call Tony up and told him what I wanted to do with the gun and he gave me several recommendations (since Im a total newb and dont know what Im doing), one of which was his adjustable Top Hat and all I can say is, Im glad I listened. Thing works great.

Or finger nail polish form the wife. 😉

WOK always suggested putting the shank of a drill bit in the valve to keep the set screws from denting it. (I never could get the damed drill bit back out!) 😆

Hell, Just order one of Tony’s Talon Tune Top Hats with inserts. Ends the problems foever, and gives much better performance to boot!

Got it.
What’ the rule of thumb for how tight?
Really crank it, just snug, or somewhere in between?
I’m still trying to find the optimum gap for my top hat and don’t want to keep repeatedly cranking those set screws and causing damage to the valve.
Thx!

Use blue Loctite…
