need some Cricket adjustment guidance please
I’ve been trouble shooting my Cricket this week and now I’m stuck and looking for guidance.
The issue revolves around low fps. When new, my gun shot at an average of 930 fps with JSB 16-18gr… Can’t recall which. After swapping out my plastic valve stem with the aluminum one, my velocities plumited to the 750 fps range with the JSB 18 grains (which I discovered 4 months later so I’m not even certain this is the culprit). This is where I got cattywampus, and so began my trouble shooting.
I have warched all of Earnest’s videos (thank you)!, and have worked through everything I know to check. Where I am in the process:
1) all of the seals are visually without damage and are coated in molycote.
2) the valve is set as described in Earnest’s videos… 2 rotations in after spring contact
3) the regulator was originally at 52.90mm (OEM)
4) now, in search of velocity, it is at 53.75mm, which completely opens up the two regulator air inlets.
Velocity at 150 bar remains is at 750 fps with the JSB 18 grains.
Any ideas guys?

From 210 bar, it fell off the reg after about 53 shots and the needle was right on the color change divider on the gauge. So it looks like I still have some work to do. I’m still trying to get a hold of Steve at WWAG.
Microsalmo – I do not see you pressure when you stopped shooting. You would have from 200-105 bar full 4 mags (56 shots)
Some Crickets work better on Jsb 15.89g pellet. It gets more shots at 880 fps.

Ah… Good catch. I just checked my notes and its overall length reduced from 52.90mm to 52.70mm. I’m sorry for posting bad info.

Not trying to beat a dead horse here but I’m just puzzled that screwing the adjuster screw in made the length go from 52.9 to 53.2. I wonder if one measurement included that little bump on the head of the screw and one didn’t. Are the threads left handed? Regardless that shot string is impressive.

This aluminum HST has a 3/4″ spring guide to prevent spring binding and increase consistency, also prevent the spring from riding the wall of the action that cause drag, with the guide the spring will last longer without being warp, had to replace about 8 springs due to warping this guide will minimized that. without this adjuster I wouldn’t have gotten 75FPE 885FPS 43.2g and 1045fps 25.4g .25 cal cricket and I can take down the speed in the mid 800fps with this adjuster. This is what Steve sells at WWAG. this is the updated one that has a 1/2″ length threads.

Regulator… 53.20mm or turned clockwise 1/4 turn from OEM position of 52.90mm
HST… Lightly seated clockwise
PSI… From 160 bar.

You want “Imppu´s” HST adjuster. Do a search after a member named Imppu and PM him. He makes really nice two part HST adjusters for Crickets. You can adjust the speed from 7-8 ft.lbs to full power with his piece.
Nope, for certain closed the reg by 1/4 turn, which I learned lessened the pressure on the valve, allowing it to open further, and bring the fps back up. Good stuff.

Do you mean counter clockwise in the reg? Clockwise should have made the measurement smaller no?
I know Steve from WWAG had some HST knurled knobs…I think he sells them for $25.

Nice save, the spread looks much better. Seems like your reg was supplying too much pressure for the hammer spring to knock the main valve open enough. If that hammer spring is the correct strength an adjustment further down on the reg might result in being able to back off the hammer spring adjuster from max bottomed out.
