Hunting with Condor SS w/talon tunes upgrade
will the Condor SS .25 after a complete talon tunes upgrade for maximum FPE be more than adequate for predator hunting? at 50 yards or so? ive recently been introduced to predator hunting but I want to do it with a high powered air rifle. Also recently introduced to PCP air rifles and I love them, much more than guns. im looking to hunt exclusively small game and predators with this air rifle

I think with 50fpe at the muzzle with the right shot you could take one at 100 with an instant kill with a diablo pellet. I am pretty sure you could get a heart shot at the least. May have to track it though.

I’d trust a 43grn Eun Jin out to 75yds, maybe a bit more. 200yds is gonna require cast bullets and a 257 barrel. The 257 barrel has a twist rate that will stabilize a bullet. The TT Condor barrel is designed for self-stabilizing pellets. The big issue is the choke in the Condor’s LW barrel. Ringed slugs will work, but present other problems. The Condor will reach 200yds, but only with extensive mods that limit the rifle’s versatility.

Are you shooting diablos?! Seems like they wouldnt have the balls to take a coyote at 200yds. Or are you useing cast .257 bullets? I am planning on getting a .257 barrel for mine, or trying out Hunter’s Supply .251 bullets. Which do you think would be better? 😕
So far, Eun Jin pointed do best under 900fps. JSBs work in a much wider velocity range. There doesn’t seem to be any general “rule” for velocity. Instead, a hundred variables come into play, like temperature, barometric pressure, and astrological alignments. To put it mildly, your mileage will vary.
As to custom ammo, there are a few people around selling handmade custom stuff, but most folks around here crank out their own, as to better compensate for the zodiac and barrel idiosyncrasies.

Mine has been converted to .257 and it took a Yote Dog at almost 200 yards recently. 😀

It turns out max fpe is a bit deceptive in that commercial pellets have a velocity “sweet spot” that limits max energy rather than the rifle. My TT Condor will toss a 43grn Eun Jin a lot faster than it’s max stable velocity.
But to answer your question, hell yes a TT Condor will kill small game, based on what my Condor does to a 3/4 inch backstop, at the range you’re talking about. The problem I’m dealing with is that the wide range of adjustability on this rifle make for a steep learning curve. On the other hand, I’ve had my Condor a month or so and yesterday I worked out plans for a multi-day coyote hunt. I’m plenty confident I’ll be making clean kills at the distances you’re considering.
I wanted a “do everything” utility gun. I’m confident that my TT Condor is as good a starting point as anything available. But to get all the power this rifle packs, I’ll need custom ammo.

they really don’t get that big and im confident the condor ss .25 would do the job nicely within 50 yards but I dont know how close I can pull them in. So im hoping this rifle has the potential for longer distance kills maybe up to 75 yards. hypothetically tho, I have no doubt at all that the rifles accuracy is superb to my own.

Oh, yeah. I could get a heart shot on a yote with no problem at 100 yards. 250-300 with my .17 center fire. But it’s a matter of the wound channel. 😕 Not so sure if a diablo will give enough energy at 100 yards to buries and tear the h@ll outa its lungs and heart. Anyway. I’m going out calling this weekend, so I will take the condor out later this week and sight in again for 100 yards. Hopefully my I can call some dogs in for my dad. We haven’t taken a coyote yet this year. 🙄 👿 :3:
