Q:

Any typical "path" to take with Talon SS?

Hey everyone,

Well I have purchased my new Talon SS in .22 cal and have decided that it’s the “one” for me. I posted recently about also purchasing a Marauder Pistol to just compare with and was having trouble deciding which to keep. But without a doubt, it’s the Talon SS for me. And again, thanks for those that gave input.

That being said, and I will definately keep it stock for awhile, but I’m already wondering if there is a typical “path” that others tend to take in regards to modifying the Talon.

I really like the idea of having the Talon SS in .25 cal form and know that I can simply switch the barrel but I’m curious if other mods are really needed in order to NOT shoot .25 cal “loopers.” I’d also either like to keep the stock shroud Sound-Lok or extend the barrel and extend the shroud. Would the condor valve be needed? And if so, does this really diminsh the shot count?

Thansk again…

I guess i should have said that i was using my .22 barrel with those setups and not a .25. I personally would use an 18″ barrel over the 12″ for the .25. The 12″ just seems like it would take to much away that the .25 has to offer. The .25 shooting below 725 fps just seems like a waste.

Yes, you will want the condor valve and hammer weight for a .25. And yes, the shot count will go down. A .25 is a bit more of a beast! 😯

The “O” Ring behind the top hat Idp spoke of will help a little on air consumption. It is what we at the TAG call the Poor Man’s Regulator 😉 . And no matter what Grumpy says, 🙄 it works! 😀

I currently have the same setup as you so here is what i have found. If you shoot the lighter weight pellets like premiers you can expect the fps to be just over 800 and around 725 using the heavier pellets. If those speeds work for you then do nothing to the gun. I wanted the kodiaks to be around 850 – 900 fps so i put a high flow tank and hammer weight in the gun and using an o-ring behind the top hat i got 920 fps with kodiaks for a max fps. I still get a decent shot count with it set like that but i am sure it would be better using an 18″ barrel and standard valve and hammer as far as shot count. I had excellent accuracy after adding the high flow and hammer weight.

Oh fogot… One more question:

I really like the idea of the TalonP… The power and being in .25 cal.

My question is, do I need to just replace my Talon SS barrel to .25 and add a TalonP/ Condor valve to make it the same? I know the TalonP has a smaller tank size but would the valve make my tank work the same due to the high-flow valve? And wouldn’t it still be fairly quiet because of the Talon SS Sound-Lok?

Thanks
