Q:

Cricket compact compaired to standard

Greetings all I have been lurking for a while and have enjoyed the humor and freedom of expression on the forum, not to mention the expertise. You have many passionate airgunners from all over the globe, very exciting! I’ve been thinking of joining the bullpup owners group and have narrowed my purchase to Kalibrguns
cricket in standard or compact 22 cal. Smaller is better for my needs, I don’t mind tinkering if needed but I am not a machinist, parts need to be readily available.
My question is does the shorter compact barrel suffer in accuracy compared to the standard. “The only interesting rifle is an accurate one” , thanks for your opinion and response. I would also like to thank Ernest Rowe for sharing his gift on Youtube.

I own both and was pleasantly surprised with both shot count and accuracy of the compact. You’ll like it.

MG, you are the only person I believe I know that owns a compact Cricket. Can you share a few more details about it? Caliber, power, length, weight and such?

Thanks!

I haven’t shot it in several months. Mine is a 22 cal. If I remember correctly, I think it’s about 6lbs and 3″ shorter than the standard. I don’t remember what the fpe was nor the shot count but I think it was getting 5 mags of shots that were on target. I do remember that I was pounding 1″ targets out to 50 to 75 yards without any trouble. I was surprised but it was doing it over and over. I remember that it’s a keeper. Hope this helps.

HI Larry, have two compact at .177 and .22, a .22 long and .22 standard.

both are accurate, but the compact is harder to shoot more accurately, seem like you have to hold it vary firmly due to the barrel flit, but when you get use to its just as accurate. for me a compact is more fun to shoot, because I just like them compact and light, had it shooting 36fpe at one time just to see how hot I can get it to shoot but got only 24 shots so took it down to 28fpe and got 40 shots.

Can go wrong on both, if you like the quickest point and shot BP the compact is it!, it’s my go to BP .177 compact.

Ernest

Damn it, H 😯 😯 T – i was just on my way to ask some discret, tasteful photo´s and now you´ve ruined the moment of surprise. Thanks a lot ! 👿

It is a matter of physics…a 12″ barrel is as accurate as a 24″ barrel at 100 meters. It is not length that gives an air gun accuracy, it is the quality of the barrel.

Ville is correct on effeciency. The longer barrels do give better air usage. But if you want a very short gun, a 12″ barrel will give you the same accuracy and power as a much longer barrel…but it will use more air doing so.

PS: Larry DO NOT send Ville any pictures of your wife/girlfriend naked!!! No matter how much he pleads and begs…just say “No!”. You can, however, send some to me and i can determine whether they are suitable for him to see. No need for thanks!

It doesn´t suffer in accuracy one bit. Where it suffers is the shot count and FPS since the barrel, naturally, is a bit shorter thus it´s less “air efficient” if you know what i mean.
